Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 27, 2012 12:41 pm Just wondering if anyone has cancelled their building contract just before site works begin? This is our second build although the first was off the plan so we just had to take what thery were offering. We picked a house that best suited our block and were very clear that we wanted big stacker doors at the back and to the sides of the house as we have amazing views and breezes from the east side. Due to us having to race and sign the building contract before the 1st of may to get the qld building boost somethings weren't fully finalised. We are now being told that it will be an extra $2500 for stone bench tops to all the other benches excluding the kitchen as that was in the package and they had made a mistake on the colour variation documents. The back and side stacker doors can only be 2100 high unless we want to pay $750 to have a steal beam put in. the list goes on but they are the major iritations at the moment. We just can't justify spending anymore money as the bank has only valued the construction at $216k and we are paying $236k. They are saying they will be keeping the full 5% deposit. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Bernadette Re: Building Contract 2Jun 27, 2012 3:00 pm We were told at contract signing if we cancel now that they will take their fees from our 5% deposit and refund the rest but didn't say how much that would be. I'm guessing their fees would be a lot though. You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16569 I've decided, after a period of confusion (my building broker told me it's probably not worth it to use a lawyer, but others have said it is a must) that I definitely will… 7 27958 |
