Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Doonks' World - our Build thread 41Jul 25, 2012 10:56 am Day 128 - 25/07/12 Alfresco carpentry going in today, no other external work. Electricians are in today and will finish all pre wiring in 1 hit, they're ripping along. Made a couple of tiny amendments to the electrical plan but sparky has otherwise confirmed he thinks is a complete plan and little chance of requiring more power points (even though I said to him "everyone always says they wish they had more"). I made some enlargements to the landing at top of the Alfresco steps to go around an incorporate the brick column rather than leave it on the outside doing nothing. Also spoke to Kitchen carpenter who is doing Alfresco bench and cabinetry, he doesn't do Stainless Steel and so we agreed for him to cost up the additional price for a natural Granite benchtop to go in with Aluminium door frames. I'm guessing it to come in around $3,500 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Decided to knock down & rebuild Designed our own home - building privately with CC Designer Homes Doonks' World - The Thread Re: Doonks' World - our Build thread 42Aug 02, 2012 12:35 pm Day #135 - 01/08/12 All brickwork washed and cleaned of all mortar etc. They look great! All photographed and measured. Today the insulation went it. The odd coloured insulation is sound battens for the Theatre room. Plaster starts tomorrow. Sat down with builder last night to go through all remaining items where I have a choice to make, or have upgrade options. We also discussed remaining schedule, if things keep on track (and they most certainly have so far), then we're looking at the "Ceremony of the Keys" happening around mid-November!!! Re: Doonks' World - our Build thread 48Aug 16, 2012 12:42 am I have to give the builder the configuration for each cupboard in the house. Here's what I came up with D4 & D5 are in Laundry, 3 cupboards in total: D4 - Laundry Broom Cupboard: Door 820 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 1700mm Shelf 1 – Shelf 2: 320mm Shelf 2 – Top: Open (320mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ D5 – Laundry Linen (Garage Side): Door 820 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 500mm Shelf 1 – Shelf 5: 400mm (each) Shelf 5 – Top: Open (240mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ D5 – Laundry Linen (Rumpus Room Side): Door 820 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 1700mm with Hanging Rail Shelf 1 – Shelf 2: 320mm Shelf 2 – Top: Open (320mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ D7 – Hallway Coat Cupboard: Door 720 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 1700mm with Hanging Rail Shelf 1 – Shelf 2: 320mm Shelf 2 – Top: Open (320mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But now we have 2 options for the last main Linen Cupboard. What do you prefer?: D20 – Living room / Meals Linen: Doors 2/820 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 600mm Shelf 1 – Shelf 4: 400mm each Shelf 4 – Top: Open (540mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OR D20 – Living room / Meals Linen: Doors 2/820 x 2340 Floor – Shelf 1: 500mm Shelf 1 – Shelf 5: 400mm each Shelf 5 – Top: Open (240mm) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Option #1 gives me taller shelves at top & bottom, but Option #2 gives me an extra shelf. Our theatre room cupboards are similar to your, either side of the screen, we like you have a little step/shelf/kick plate thingy(sorry not technical) but we have just had our theatre fitted out(by my brother) who cursed us as he wanted to be able to roll the rack into the cupboard, instead they had to lift it, full of equipment, he wasn't happy, just thinking at this stage it might be easy to change it so you can just roll a rack in House is looking fantastic by the way Re: Doonks' World - our Build thread 51Aug 20, 2012 7:17 pm Thanks gogo, I'll pass this into my I.T. guy straight away and see what says. I couldn't get inside but the internal doors all seem to have been hung and arcs & skirts are well underway. Kitchen guys will be installing on Tuesday, with cabinetry for ensuite and laundry having already been done. I'm getting the feeling we're just starting the home stretch now. Turns out that for 1.5m2 it was going to cost $880 I think the sums have come adrift a little. The Metallic glass tile set is meant to be a feature, not to cover the entire bath!!! I think we might just continue the floor tile up the side and the hob, and on the side nearer to the top, put a lateral line of the metallic feature tile across it. I think that'll look quite good and still maintain the glass tile that the bride loves so much. Good thinking Doonks!
