Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 20, 2012 4:10 pm Hi all, Firstly, let me just say what a great site this is. I have only discovered it recently and have learnt so much from all the information. I wanted to request a little advice with a decision we have made, we have decided on the following colours for our Wisdom Manhattan 35: Roof: Bristile Roof "Coal" Gutter, downpipes: Colorbond Monument Bricks: Austral Ultra Smooth Jazz Joints: Ironed Mortar: Off White Garage Door, Fascia, Balcony Railing: Colorbond Surfmist Render to 2 front piers: Bristol "Black Jack" P232-N6 Windows: Colorbond Jasper Driveway: Plain Charcoal Here are some samples of the colours: Bristile "Coal" Roof Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bristol "Black Jack" P232-N6 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Colorbond Jasper Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Colorbond Monument Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Colorbond Surfmist Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Austral Ultra Smooth Jazz Bricks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ House design Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our main concern is whether the Colorbond Jasper windows actually go with the Austral Jazz Bricks? Our alternate option for the windows is Surfmist but we are worried this might make the windows too attention grabbing, especially when inside the house. The Jasper is meant to not make the windows dominate as much. We like the look of Jasper when inside the house, but Surfmist from outside the front of the house. We have just received developer approval so this might be too late, not sure if we can actually change now, but thought I would get some opinions as we dont want to wreck the look at these nice bricks that we are lucky to be able to budget in. Any help or advice is appreciated. Re: Do Colorbond Jasper windows go with Austral Jazz bricks? 2Jun 23, 2012 6:17 pm Hi This is my first post, so here we go....... Having Jasper coloured window frames will make the exterior of the house even darker looking. Because you have no other brown (jasper) on the exterior of the house it will look odd. Colours, textures etc. are about balance. Be careful with the colour of the window frames and what you transfer into the house, you should stay with neutrals like Surfmist otherwise you will be stuck with a certain colour that will be difficult to change afterwards. Because you will be using off white mortar the Surfmist window frames will be perfect. If you want to be adventuress and if you Developer will allow it paint your front door red. All the best..... Re: Do Colorbond Jasper windows go with Austral Jazz bricks? 3Jun 23, 2012 9:39 pm I agree with previous poster.... If it were me I'd be doing surfmist window frames. With the off white mortar and surfmist garage door it will look more balanced. You have dark grey roof, dark grey fascia, white garage doors, white railings on balcony and then brown window frames. The render looks like a dark grey. Why brown when everything else is predominantly greys and white? Re: Do Colorbond Jasper windows go with Austral Jazz bricks? 4Jun 23, 2012 9:52 pm The biggest rule of thumb, bricks + rooftiles and then only two other colours or tones, so monument and surfmist. The black jack is good with monument. Dont introduce another colour. We have monument windows and I don't think they stand out, sorry I don't think jasper will go with your very grey bricks, monument or surfmist windows would be my choice Re: Do Colorbond Jasper windows go with Austral Jazz bricks? 5Jun 24, 2012 8:58 am Thanks EcoFriendly, Vess and gogo! Your advice is greatly appreciated and it has confirmed our suspicions that the Jasper windows will not go well with our bricks and external colour scheme. We will contact Wisdom on Monday and ask that the windows be changed to Surfmist. Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10216 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 2890 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18577 |
