Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 162Jun 12, 2013 6:31 pm I emailed Jessica today so hopefully I will hear back tomorrow. I'll keep you posted Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 164Jun 28, 2013 5:07 pm Hey all, we are hopefully about to purchase a block in Stage 18 in Grand Lakes (should know this weekend or early next week). Looking forward to getting to know others in and around the estate. Went out there the other day and it looks really nice. We are also in negotiations with Boutique Homes. Is anyone else building with them in Grand Lakes? This is our second home but our first time building which is exciting but I am certainly starting to feel a bit anxious about the whole thing. Hopefully I have done enought research that we don't hit too many hurdles along the way. Look forward to hearing about everyones builds Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 165Jun 28, 2013 7:14 pm well our house was officially finished a week ago, driveway is done for a great price, opticomm have been out today and connected our fibre optic crap, was going to connect with telstra only to find out from the opticomm installer only 5 companys can connect to the " smart community". so now trying to find a decent provider. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 166Jun 28, 2013 8:03 pm Have you moved in camtiani? We are not far away either, you are lot 657 right? Welcome to homeone Pippa, can't help with your builder, sorry. Though I know exactly how you feel about being anxious, our build is almost done and I still feel like that! Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 167Jul 01, 2013 6:08 pm yeah lot 657, we officially move in this weekend, we got our storage trailer delivered last week and have started landscaping etc. Im just trying to get some internet and a phone connected. apparently there is only a few that do it. anyone found a good package for the fibre optics internet? Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 168Jul 02, 2013 4:29 pm You must be so excited Nickvee. Well we have signed our PWC with Boutique and the offer on the block has been accepted with contracts being prepared. We are lot 712 in stage 18. Anyone else in stage 18? We have chosen the Barcelona 28 from Boutique as our floor plan which we fell in love with almost as soon as we saw it. Looking forward to hopefully meeting some future neighbours. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 169Jul 03, 2013 5:48 pm Hi all, Just thought i would fill you in with the status of Opticomm, if anyone is still unsure. I spoke to them today and they said that for me (stage 17) it is ready to go. For anyone wondering where the boundary pit is, it is not in front everyone's lots, but, the conduit is installed in front of all of our lots for the builder to connect to. In regards to the ISP, here are a few i can remember: -Internode http://www.internode.on.net/residential ... e/estates/ -Iinet http://www.iinet.net.au/nbn/nbn-plan-residential.html -Exetel http://exetel.com.au/residential-fibre-overview.php Cheers, Nick Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 172Aug 03, 2013 6:20 pm Hey Corz, Try internode, I've called them already and they confirmed we can get it so long as Opticomm have done all the connections. I assume if internode can service it then so can iinet as iinet now owns internode. Cheers, Nick Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 174Aug 04, 2013 10:28 am We had Opticomm come out to install on Friday (finally!) and suprise suprise... it turns out the porter davis electrician didn't do it properly. It's missing a unit. And they wired the cables near the metre box to stick out of the side of the bricks... not inside the garage where it needs to be! Lucky our maintenance inspection is this Tuesday. I have a rather long list for them. So I haven't contacted a retailer yet, will have to wait. Has anyone else had similar issues? Our neighbours had their nature strip ripped up for the cabling about a month ago. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 175Aug 05, 2013 11:48 am That really sucks LMcNish89, which box did they miss? According to Opticomms cabling diagram, your builder doesn't need to install any devices, just a cabling cabinet which should be in the garage that feeds the house along with the powerpoints at the recommend heights. Then the builder needs to feed the conduit through the house to outside where Opticomm will install the PCD and run the fibre cable to the footpath and back to the cabinet in the garage. We have the conduit coming out the side of the house and into the ground which should hookup to the footpath. The only thing missing on our end is the powerpoint, which i will raise at PCI. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 177Aug 19, 2013 10:52 am Congrats & welcome Lukebee! Have you chosen a builder & plan yet? Nick, had our maintenance inspection, he said the opticomm guy didn't know what he was talking about... so they'll be here tuesday to fix everything (including cornice & plaster cracks!). Then probably one more call out by opticomm and we should be connected. It's just a pain having two different people telling you different things and me being the messenger inbetween! Fingers crossed. Been a crazy busy fortnight! Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara, VIC 180Aug 19, 2013 11:46 am Hey Lukebee, Check out the "Things you forget thread" viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5823 Plenty of tips in there Laura, it's funny how they love playing the blame game! Fingers crossed they sort it all out for you soon I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing.
