Anyone affected by the top soil recently added by Bisinella?
My builder will do a 2nd soil test and this led to 3 weeks delay on our build.
I'm okay with it if it translates to no problems to our slab and foundation.
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 29Oct 17, 2012 3:46 pm LMcNish89 Dennis weren't as friendly (and I got put on hold for ages before being transferred to 5 different people including head office). But hopefully it should be done this week. Yay! Fingers crossed for site start. Give mena a call at the Geelong office, her number is 524933308. They have been so damned helpful to us, kind of makes me wish I built with them. We have full site access to the property beside us for the pool install until they reach roofing stage, can't complain Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 30Oct 19, 2012 9:47 am Oh thanks CBPH! I called the office and they said they'd get the site supervisor to call me directly. Did anyone see this article in the Geelong Addy about houses being broken into and vandalised? It's just wrong. I wonder why the builder won't cover the costs... hate to think that could happen to us or anyone else. http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/art ... _news.html Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 31Oct 19, 2012 1:47 pm We caught a few "new australians" in the act out here a little while back, turns out they were the trades of one of the builders, no need to break in, they have a key, take what they need, mess the place up and make it look like a burg. We reported it to the police and last I heard they were aressted. These guys were loading up their van with stone benchtops etc...thieves, one of the scums of the earth! Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 32Oct 19, 2012 2:04 pm Wow that's great you managed to report them and they were charged! I've definately heard from a lot of people that it's the tradeys themselves stealing items... it gets replaced at the company's cost so they think they can get away with it. It's just hard to know how to prevent it from happening when we're not in control of the house. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61233 Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 34Oct 20, 2012 7:13 pm Was out at my block yesterday mowing the nature strip as Geelong council sent out that they would be fining unkept blocks during summer fire season. Spoke to the builder next door who warned me about thefts in the area and some of his timber had been stolen. My block has also been used as bit of a dumping ground and driveway too:( Noticed some places have gone up very quick. Am hassling my builder (Burbank) as to why so many others have commenced building and we are only just applying for building permit now? How long has any of your building permits taken? I still have no start date yet. Doesn't help I was also held up with the added top soil and second soil test for 3 weeks also Cheers Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 35Oct 22, 2012 10:12 am Planet Express, our building permit and final drawings took 3 weeks to be finalised and approved. I wonder if we also need to mow the nature strip now if our construction has already started. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 36Oct 22, 2012 10:24 am WOW 3 weeks!! I'm hoping mine doesn't take that long. The letter I was sent forwarded from Bisnella from City of Greater Geelong states: Inspections begin on lots in Lara Oct 29th with on the spot infringements of $1408 if grass not maintained to height less than 4 inches and any combustable material must be removed from lots, ie branches etc & must be maintained throughout the fire danger period. Might be an idea to do it as although nature strip is council land the home owner is responsible for its up keep. Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 37Oct 26, 2012 10:04 am Thanks Planet Express! We did cut the grass yesterday. How is everyone? Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 38Oct 26, 2012 12:25 pm Good thinking, mine was almost upto my shoulders at some points. Still waiting on my building permit tho Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 39Oct 31, 2012 9:25 pm Building Permit approved today Still waiting on a response from BB on what the issue was regarding my soil test though. Just need to approve final drawings and construction letter can be sent Re: Grand Lakes Estate, Lara 40Oct 31, 2012 9:46 pm Sounds great! We got transferred to construction on the 26/10, they start on site on 8/11 and the slab will be poured 19/11 Oh, and we didn't have to worry about the asset protection permit - Porter Davis did it for us My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61233 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4518 |
