Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 19, 2012 9:55 am Hi All, Just wondering how people have gone about pegging their house site on acreage. We have a 10 acre block and are due to sign with a large volume builder. The salesman has asked for a site location on a map. They have $500 built into quote for survey and pegging, I was going to get a surveyor to peg the site for me and give the drawing to the salesman this is $700. I have heard of people putting on the site plan "site to be pegged by owner, house on broad acreage" As we all know things are all adding up, and the $700 would be better in my pocket at this stage. I am thinking of using a 50 mt rope that I have measured with a tape measure to get a close approximation and pegging where we want it, has any one done this? My thoughts were they will have a surveyor come out for the site location any way for engineering drawings etc so no point having it done twice? Thanks, any input appreciated. You might have to "blow up" the title drawing to be able to draw the house site on it. Re: Pegging site on acrerage 3Jun 19, 2012 11:21 am this was our exact scenario. we had site survey + peg included in contract too. we are building on 10 acres with a project builder, and they wanted a sketch of where we would like to locate dwelling. found out from the shire that we dont have a building envelope, but setbacks had to be 50m from front boundary and 10m from side boundary. so then i just did a rough scale map of our block dimensions and put in rough scale of proposed dwelling location. i think i did 1cm = 1m. then emailed it too our sales guy. then when survey people came out they surveyed a 50m x 50m area, basing corner point on boundary fence and 3m from corner of dwelling location. it sounds more complicated than it actually is. they just need to know where to start on such a large area. Re: Pegging site on acrerage 4Jun 19, 2012 12:48 pm Thanks for the reply guy's. The trouble is we have a lot of large trees, and an existing dwelling we are trying to slot it in against. Trying to keep as many trees as possible but be far enough away to not incur additional costs for footings. I have found nearmap to be very accurate, when I run the rope out. I even used a print out of near map, then traced it onto plan with a glass coffee table and lamp. I guess I don't want an error on my drawing if this is used for exact location, I want to tell them where it will go rather than them turn up and tell me that my pegs are in the wrong place. Thanks again. Nice one thanks, just saved $700! Our Build Here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74037&p=1255246#p1255246 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13104 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37150 |
