Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 18, 2012 6:03 pm Hi Everyone first time home builder and looking for some advice!!! Who to use to build a double storey home at the new Rochedale Estates?? Lot size is 645sqm with a 21.5m frontage 30m deep! Have had a look at Plantation Doulton Lux, Trinity Lux, Mcarthy homes - Napa Blue BUT who will build the better quality home??? So many reviews on the net - some good some bad about everyone. Although, McCarthy does seem to have better reviews with a few negative ones. Kinda like the McCarthy plans at this stage. So just looking for some input, advice, experiences and what traps to wary off from anyone who has built a double storey home recently. Thanks Re: Who to build with??? Double storey Home at Rochedale Est 3Aug 12, 2012 11:15 am mel-lou Hi - just joined this forum, we are building a 2 storey home in the new Rochedale Estate...we will build with Plantation Homes, probably Doulton Lux, just at the beginning stage paid deposit for soil test etc...first time we've built so all new to us...exciting but daunting...did you decide who to build with? I'm keen to share advice, experiences etc...did you get much feedback from your post? Hi mel-lou, We are also thinking about building with plantation homes, their display homes look amazing!! Their price for two storey has recently got up like 3k, and im wondering that if their price is negotiable at all? and do you outsource anything to save some $$? Re: Who to build with??? Double storey Home at Rochedale Est 4Aug 25, 2012 10:59 am HI All land now settled and paid for and have now decided that to use McCarthy Homes building the Napa Blue with mods and extensions to master bedroom, pantry, and alfrexco. McCarthy have been great so far and the sc has been fantastic to work with. The neighbors at the estate built a Plantation Trinity and it looks fantastic. They have moved in and are loving it. Re: Who to build with??? Double storey Home at Rochedale Est 6Oct 11, 2013 8:52 pm We looked at McCarthy, and they were great, as were BMW and Heisig (spelling?), but we eventually went with Nuvo homes for our double storey home in Rochedale Estates. The reason was flexibility. They took our own plans, tweaked them, allowed an architect in during the process, allowed us to do our own kitchens, flooring, electrical etc. Just really flexible. Will have saved us about $100k over the McCarthy options with them having to do everything. We are building on McDermott Parade currently. Was expensive for land, and body corporate fees are not cheap, but the facilities seem great, and we already use the pool/gym each week, even though the house wont be built for 6 months. http://lorenandemma.blogspot.com The setback from the kerb is 4m.
