Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Burbank Prescott 21Jul 21, 2012 9:47 pm Hi again - back from another trip so home again thankfully!! Thanks everyone for your opinion on shutters now considering them for bathrooms too!! Even though I have already paid for Hollands we have fallen for the shutters BIG TIME!! Oh and we have changed our minds..thanks to NAYVZ! reconsidered and have changed to dark walnut colour! Other reason is white would look odd with the bushfire rating I forgot our lovely fly wire is not just standard flywire but aluminmium hard style MESH so that would have looked really awful with these the gorgeous white shutters and yucko black mesh just in front of the awning windows on the bedroom... so its the dark walnut and probably more bali/resort style that colour anyway I agree the wallpaper I love too and so many I wanted but stopped myself dont want that hmmm oh no I hate wallpaper feeling in a few years time...One wall shall do for now although I am considering a lovely one for the hallway can't help myself. .. Not much to report here still waiting for developers approval VERY SLOW!!!! Fourteen days must be business days because its crazy.... Then Council and our garage is over 3m high on the boundary so will need permission from council/future neighbours whomever they are!! Praying they are not noisy or have cars they rev all the time like our current next door neighbours!!!! Drives me crazy will be glad to escape.... Will update when I have an update, the only exciting thing atm on our block is a nice tree has been planted on the nature strip!!! Oh and other thing you may have noticed what is it with some people who place there house on the block and dont consider site orientation or views...weird three blocks up from me they are at frame stage but I find it odd to build a house with only bathrooms etc facing north side and courtyard all living areas kitchen etc all SOUTH!! How dark and yucky that nice new house will be inside!! I dont understand why you wouldnt take that into account when building. Surely the builders would suggest its a really bad design for the orientation of the block - if they wanted that house so badly they should have built on the other side of the road or had a cross over put in for their garage to flip the house over.... strange instead of the beautiful sun its just going to so dull.... maybe they dont realise.... Anyway off to check all of your threads now and get updated on how quick your wonderful new homes are moving along.... Re: Our Burbank Prescott 22Jul 21, 2012 9:57 pm Good point with the shutters! Yes I bought some of that wallpaper on sale too Haven't decided where to put it yet, it was just such a bargin, lol! We will find somewhere Considering either the entrance hall, living room wall behind tv or family room wall behind the tv. I got 3 rolls so I think it covers max 6mts, more than enough for one wall. Re: Our Burbank Prescott 23Jul 21, 2012 10:23 pm Oh well done Stace - such a bargain hey!! Will look great with your place....not long and you will be in We have no idea how to hang the wallpaper so going to get a professional and I know I would hate it everytime I walked into the room and noticed it wasnt joined properly Three rolls for the price of one original - we are great bargain hunters hey.... Re: Our Burbank Prescott 24Jul 25, 2012 7:28 pm hi dancoop well truth is in the pudding the start is always so slow and many on here will testify to that, our prebuild stuff took 6 months and our house is built in 3 lol hope all goes well with your siting issue we had a hard time with the neighbors (which was an established house) never responding to requests from burbank/council or even to our persistant visits with no response from the dwellers within- as it turned out it was raided shortly before our build comenced 130ish plants growing inside - now we have no neighbors!!!! lol Re: Our Burbank Prescott 27Aug 07, 2012 10:19 am Hey there - long time between posts - apologies work again drags me away... Thanks for the feedback and NAYZV for the pic of the dark shutters - made up my mind now they look amazing don't they, so I shall be going for that same effect just beautiful. Well interesting time, found out last week that the BANK have mucked up BIG TIME. Our land settled months ago and when BB tried to go for permits with the council they were told oh no the title is still in the developers name!! Not happy! Pretty hopeless customer service so I have been paying mortgage payments on land that technically isn't mine! It is apparently being fixed and will take 10 days to complete.. So a bit of a hold up again... Not to worry will happen when it supposed to I guess.... Re: Our Burbank Prescott 28Aug 18, 2012 12:06 am Well hello again, busy day today finally signed contracts at head office today!!! Big cheerio and big thanks to brilliant Anne in sales and Racheal in admin - thank you to you - you know why!!! Title still not in my name, but should be soon gee what am I complaining about only been 8 weeks - I wish my bank were not so slack!!! Wishing you all a fabulous weekend Re: Our Burbank Prescott 30Aug 18, 2012 11:39 am great post Dancoop! congrats on the contract signing, Have a great weekend! Re: Our Burbank Prescott 31Aug 27, 2012 2:52 pm Thanks guys for your comments Back again been away with work, not a lot to report other than land is finally titled correctly!! Cheers to the bank for only taking 8 weeks Funny BB told no permit because title wasn't in my name yet guess what I received in the mail??? Hmm that would be the rates notice!!! Funny hey!! Just waiting for final bank ok all pre-approved but need that last little nod then off we go and of course the building permit.... Have a great week guys and hopefully I have good news by the end of the week... Re: Our Burbank Prescott 32Aug 29, 2012 5:51 pm Rates time always puts a dampener on things, havnt had to worry about rates for a year! Goodluck getting something happening on the block hopefully won't be too much longer. Xo Re: Our Burbank Prescott 33Aug 29, 2012 5:51 pm Rates time always puts a dampener on things, havnt had to worry about rates for a year! Goodluck getting something happening on the block hopefully won't be too much longer. Xo Re: Our Burbank Prescott 34Sep 01, 2012 10:16 pm Well - good news we finally have the building permit Very exciting - delay was the council forgot to send the paperwork to our neighbours for their permission for our higher than normal garage wall which is 3.25m high. But all good now time limits over no issues so its all approved!! Yay and of course the title is now changed even better!! Now just waiting waiting waiting for final bank approval.....fingers crossed Monday Other exciting news well for us anyway - just went for a look see at the block and low and behold we have our two front taps!! Yay normal water and the recycled water.... not sure about them being bang in the middle of the block though Seems a bit of a strange place for them but oh well - weird thing is we are the only one with them!! How very odd.... I think the houses being constructed have theirs but no one else does... Interesting driving around the estate seeing the other houses going up, happy to see no double storey monsters going up, sorry not a fan of stairs been there done that and also our blocks are quite narrow so would hate to be overshadowed by a massive double storey fingers crssed it stays that way!! Otherwise our bamboo plans will come in super handy at blocking them out!!! Oh and BB have advised that we will now have site start by late Sept!! Woohooo gotta love that Everyone have a fab weekend beautiful Melbourne weather Re: Our Burbank Prescott 35Sep 01, 2012 10:40 pm Great news dancoop. Looking forward to following your build Re: Our Burbank Prescott 36Sep 02, 2012 7:06 pm Woohoo! So exciting! Our taps are in the middle too, not the best feature are they! Lol. Enjoy the sunshine! Re: Our Burbank Prescott - Temp Fence and Site Scrape Monday 37Sep 29, 2012 11:29 am Hey again, well I am back!! Sorry been away with work, a lot to update..... Firstly temp fencing etc is in! Heard from my S/S that they will start site scrape on Monday, then set out and drainage! SO all very exciting - seems surreal after such a long time that its all happening! So hopefully the build goes well and blasts along as quick as some of other Bbank builds that have flown by this past few months. I had to change over my floor tile as the one I chose was discontinued! So of course the only other one I liked semi close was an upgrade! So we went with it, everything else clashed with the paint and nearly all my other colour selections so the ugrade again it was... My wonderful admin worked her magic with this one for me though so big pats on the back for her! She is amazing so blessed to have such a caring thoughtful admin New tile is called outback beige, havent seen anyone else using it but its very matte based tile almost stone like, so will add to the resorty feel we are trying to achieve I guess.... So the house will not be completed until February due to such a latish start date, but all good we are off to Ubud after Christmas for a break! so very exciting 10 days of bliss, massages everyday, little bit of yoga, our own infinity pool aghhhh - cant wait been a massive year so will be very very relaxing.... I have been buying and buying for the new house, think I will have to build another house if I dont stop soon to accomodate it all!! Got heaps of new lovely hand made furniture will post a pic of my U buffet which I adore later and a very gorgeous day bed for under the alfresco which will look amazing perfect for that lazy sunday morning reading the paper I must stop though, I have bought cushions for over 150 each which is mad, but I loved them.... Everyone have very wonderful day and enjoy the grand final if you're interested that is! Re: Our Burbank Prescott 38Sep 29, 2012 3:15 pm Re: Our Burbank Prescott 39Sep 30, 2012 2:10 pm im closing my eyes and dreaming or living in your resort style home It definatley sound like its going to be somewhere you can come home to and relax. sound like its all happening for you this week Dancoop! youll have a frame up by the end of next week Re: Our Burbank Prescott 40Oct 07, 2012 8:30 am Well a little update - No slab yet that is coming this week so very exciting but we have a meter box dangling on a very skinny metal pole! SO thats it until the slab this week - very exciting!
