Well, it's been a busy time over the Christmas and New Year Holidays. The pool paving, pool fence, stone bench top to the outdoor area, bbq, pizza oven, bar fridges and outdoor stereo were all finished off prior to Xmas. Which meant Xmas was at our house. After over 12 months of planning and building it was good to finally enjoy all the work that had been done. But it wasn't all relaxing. Over this time I managed to: [*] Obtain a Frangipani for free that I divided in two and planted in the front planter boxes. (Each one is just over a metre tall) [*] Do some more steel edginging to the front. [*] Plant out the planter boxes to the pool. [*] Put Limestone Pavers as steppers with stone surrounding it to the back access way of the house. [*] Plant Mondo Grass between the Alfresco and Pool paving. [*] Plant Little Gems between the grass and Pool Paving. [*] Get a outdoor setting for the front verandah. [*] Put stone in all the planter boxes. The backyard is nearly finished. Some additional touches such as Copper Screens on the back limestone wall, a screen to hide to the pool pump and plant some remaining Mondo Grass is all that remains. The front is waiting for me to finish the steel edging, put in aggragate pavers and stone to the path ways, plant out the front garden beds and install a screen to hide the bins. That just leaves the laundry side which needs paving near the laundry door. The rest of the area will have soil conditioner added and turned over as this will be the vegie patch. It's all getting there. I've taken quite a few photo's which I'll try uploading over the next few days. I really can't wait until we are at this stage and finishing everything off. Look forward to seeing some pics, in particular screening as this is what we are considering doing to our back fence line around the pool. Bet you loved that pool over Christmas. Key things left outside: [*] Copper Screens on back limestone wall [*] Vegie Garden down the laundry side [*] Screen to hide the garden bins at the front [*] Screen to hide pool pump [*] Ceiling Fans to alfresco Key things inside: [*] Light fittings in bedrooms [*] Blind to laundry [*] Probably Airconditioning That's it I think. Almost there. I find it so hard to believe that DA are supposedly one of the premium builders here and yet most other builders give their clients direct communication with their SS, and we are left sending stupid emails back and forward to someone sitting in an office chair in Osborne Park. I will let Polack answer for himself and I'm sure he'll give his view. With the role of Client Liaison, the Site Manager is able to concentrate 100% on their job of managing the build of a home, organising tradesmen and supplier deliveries and so on, rather than taking a high number of client calls each day. The Client Liaison and Site Manager have a close relationship and the CLO should efficiently manage queries from their clients' and provide information to the Site Manager. In return, the Site Manager provides the CLO with updates or changes on the progress of the home. The CLO should be providing fortnightly updates to their client, however if the client requires any info at any point then this should be provided as soon as possible. Please let me know if you are experiencing frustrations with the communication you are receiving and I will investigate on your behalf. Best regards, Jemima. Dale Alcock Homes. We love building. We received two updates from our CLO during the construction period. Once telling us when the slab was due to be laid and once advising that we were comming up to handover. We did have 3 different CLO's during this time so that might have had something to do with it. Regarding contacting the SS. During the inital stages of construction when we needed to contact our SS, we contacted our CLO who let the SS know and he contacted us. This worked well most of the time. As we got to know our SS, I got his direct number (came up on my phone when he rang me) but refrained from contacting him directly for the reasons that Jemima describes. I think the SS appreciated this, because during the later stages of construction he told me to contact him direct. I did this for major issues and but still followed the CLO/SS/Client process for minor questions. Yes it can be a frustrating experience going through a middle man so to speak, especially if no return call is forthcoming. Luckily I had the SS's number if he never returned my call. By the way, we weren't that bothered by the lack of updates from our CLO as we were being updated by our SS directly. My Secret Harbour Build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57248 Re: Dale Alcock Build in Secret Harbour 132Jan 21, 2013 6:24 pm We were lucky missem that we often saw our ss on site when we went for a sticky beak. But generally i would email my clo (i think we have the same from memory) and she would get back to me by the end of day by email or phonecall. She would always updaye me abd mire often than not would call me as we got along so well we would chat for ages! I never had any problems with communication once i got that clo...she was on the ball. She dealt with all the paperwork side of stuff so often knew quicker than ss. Our ss, same as yours, is fantastic. But ss dont know how trivial things mean a lot to us. So often will get back to you...in tradie time. Our clo works on my time...ie...now! I actually like this system better than direct contact with ss. A ss on site or driving cant pull up your file immediately. Clo can. Re: Dale Alcock Build in Secret Harbour 133Feb 16, 2013 10:12 am Some photos. Building with Dale Alcock Re: Dale Alcock Build in Secret Harbour 139Feb 18, 2013 7:18 pm Casanova, Yeah, that's what we thought, Uh Oh!! Apparently there are differences to their front and their colours are different though still based on grey and yes their roof is Surfmist. DAH and the owners thought the differences were enough. We shall see. The backyard entertaining has turned out alright. It's gotten quite alot of use over the past few months. We are also building with dales, a combination of the archipelago and stoneleigh. Great to see what you have done with front of your home, did you use same colours as the display? Also how do you find the kitchen bifolds? Do you have flyscreens? Thanks T Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
