Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Carbon tax increase 21Jun 11, 2012 9:26 pm I hope your right Casa2, our house insurance went up $200.00 nothing to do with the tax. I managed to talk it back down $120.00 as we have had insurance with them forever. My Sisters went up over that amount with another insurer. It seems that everything is going up and now we have this new tax and it's scarey not knowing how its going to affect us exactly. The building industry is very quiet, my DS installs heating and cooling and they have never been so flat. It will b interesting, I will hold on to the 37 dollars Julia gave me for the Carbon Tax supplement in case we need it hahaha Carbon tax increase 22Jun 12, 2012 10:10 am The Carbon Tax is a scape goat. It seems that people are quick to blame it, even though it hasn't come in yet. There are other reasons your house prices may have gone, eg. Councils may require higher energy ratings, inflation, etc. The higher energy rating requirements in WA seems to be a big one here. And this is so WA can catch up with other states, I believe. Another reason the building industry may have slowed down so dramatically in recent months might be due to the MASSIVE CHANGE IN THE BUILDING CODES. This topic should be renamed. This is more a political argument above the evil of the Carbon Tax.
