Way too complicated. Looks so simple in theory but when you have to get all the levels right and stay away from council boundary, plus footings etc it becomes a really complicated task. Just a local guy who was referred to us through a friend. He actually lives on the street back from us so very close and handy. We were a bit nervous about the heights but think its work out perfectly. Once the render is done the dirt level will be raised a little more so not so much is going to be exposed. Now to decide on what to put in that big end planter..... Do you need a building permit to build planter or mailbox? Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 523Jun 22, 2013 9:19 pm AubinGroveFan Do you need a building permit to build planter or mailbox? No, only if the structure exceeds 1m high. Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 525Jun 22, 2013 11:08 pm I might need to look into finding someone. I love the idea of having one and then paving in front of it and my frangipani behind it Can't wait to see the finished product! Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 526Jun 22, 2013 11:40 pm Love your planter!! Hubby was just saying today it shouldn't be too hard to make our planned planter ourselves .... may have to rethink that now reading your post. Hubby likes to think he's handy.... Front of the house too important I think. Look forward to see how it looks post render. Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 527Jun 23, 2013 10:05 am I'm glad you got your fancy planter. Did you end up basing it on one of the display houses?. It's will look so good. Can I ask who is going to make up your name / house number plates? I have seen them on some of the 'fancier' houses and they look really schmicko lol. Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 528Jun 23, 2013 11:02 am Dale Alcock told me who they used for letterbox plates. Think it was 'design edge' We plan to get number with street address too Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 529Jun 23, 2013 2:08 pm Steelcut creations seem the place to get them. Polack (user on here) got 1.5m x 0.5m for $600 delivered from over east. That's identical to the DA archipelago display fascia. Much much cheaper than anyone locally. Our planter was "based" loosely on the archer display planter. DA gave us the plan for it, and we really loved the exact design except you can tell it was specifically designed for that house the way it lines up with the front protruding part of the house. So with our brickie we played around with it knowing we wanted it longer and extending the width of the actual house - minus garage obviously. Our letterbox part though is to exact proportions so our fascia will be around 1.1m x 0.4m. Think we will do identical layout to this - Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. I cant remember username (one with rusted look letterbox he made) or company now. Im sure I have it written somewhere
Re: Baldivis build with Dale Alcock Homes - Update 531Jun 23, 2013 2:53 pm That really reasonable and worth it for such a statement. The black one in the master is stunning and puts some nice shadows on the wall. This is the 3 light one and you can also get 4 and 5 light ones which are a fair bit dearer. But all throw out adequate light - you could easily say read a book in bed with it on. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes.
