Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 31, 2012 11:53 am Hi everyone, I would like to find out how people are dealing with making internal changes to the plan of their house. For example, I am building the Sahara Q2 with Henley. Since we will be having a newborn in the house, we wanted to have the microwave space (which is normally in the kitchen island) to be placed in the pantry cupboards at the back. When we requested that change, the cost for it came up to $350 odd. The reason for it is that they have to make the shelf for the microwave. My question is towards, why would they be charging me that much when that space was initially allocated but it's getting moved to a different location (this is at color selection stage). During the sales stage, I was able to move the fridge space into a different location (where there would have been pantry cupboards) without any charges. Can people please explain? Thanks Saj Re: cost of making internal changes to plan - Henley 2May 31, 2012 2:12 pm I am coming to the end stage of my house that im building with henley, we made 1 change to the interior of the house which was moving one wall 1 meter. They did not charge us anything to do so because it was not a load bearing wall. With builders like Henley, that mass produce houses most of the framework, cabinets, etc are all pre made, so if you want to change something in a house that would require them to have something specially made to suit it will cost you alot of money. So when you are moving your fridge space im guessing they would not have had to make anything outside the standard items, it was just a case of take something and putting it somewhere else. I hope i explained that properly. Good luck Re: cost of making internal changes to plan - Henley 3May 31, 2012 4:00 pm Thanks. I have spoken to my administrator and she has advised that there is no cost to move the microwave. Funny how Cosham charges you and then your administrator says, nah....it's free. Need to look into this in more detail..... Re: cost of making internal changes to plan - Henley 4Jun 01, 2012 9:57 am sajithj Thanks. Need to look into this in more detail..... I will definitely check and double check everything with your Admin person. We had our colours person say that "no that can't be done" and then I checked with our admin person and she was like "yeh of course you can do that". We made a few structural changes and found that we actually didn't get charged that much for them. We did change the microwave space from under the bench to a microwave tower (for the same reason) and yes they did charge us for that. Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7935 I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months. I got a call from the salesperson this morning… 0 542 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5404 |
