Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 30, 2012 2:07 pm We bought our block about 4 yrs ago and due to startign our own business w had to put our build on hold for a while but we were finally able to start the process at the end of last year and after originally going to sign up with Statesman we chaged our minds before signing the contract for various reasons and decided to go with Fairmont and so far are very happy:)
We are building a 4 bedroom, study, 2 living areas and a playroom house the plan was origionally statesmans but we had to change the entire back of he house to suit our block so it became our plan after getting id designed. We had our direct interiors selections on Monday and have our kitchen selection tomorro and final builders interview this coming Monday:) We got full council approval today aswell!! So excited:) Anyone want to share how long after builders interview did site works start? Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will sitre works start? 2May 30, 2012 2:36 pm Hi babysaurs ... at long last!! Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will sitre works start? 3May 30, 2012 4:55 pm Ours hasn't begun yet we are still waiting for our land to register, we have been waiting over 6 months for it We have spoken to our builder and they told us once they have council approval they will start earth works within a week not sure if that's the norm can't wait to follow your build, keep us updated on your progress Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will sitre works start? 4May 31, 2012 5:32 pm Had our kitchen colours selections today and took us longe then our ile etc selections did!! We have gone with a lighter grey kitchen bench top and this grainy sort or gray black colour cupboards, sort of had to convince DH about it as he wasnt sure but i love what we have chosen and thnk its going to be great!! Anyone know how to post a pic of our floor plan? Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will site works start? 5Jun 06, 2012 2:32 pm We had our final builders inteview on Monday but will have a hold up due to adding sola electric water system to the roof and needing to strenghten that area and also the area we want to put the pergola in needs to be strengthened too. So now plans need to be changed a bit:) Also had a minni freak out about our kitchen colour selections that arvo which were then put to rest after looking at the laminex showroom in they city. Need to not listen to others opinions when all they have seen is a small sample!! Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will sitre works start? 6Jun 06, 2012 3:01 pm Once you have signed off on the final contract (or variations from your selections) you're probably looking at a minimum of maybe 5-6 weeks:
Of course there can be delays both on the builders side when it comes to compiling the documentation (especially if they make a mistake here and there) and there definitely can be delays in getting the required approvals and even actually getting the excavators on-site to do the site cut (which is dependent on the weather). With a little luck you're hopefully looking at starting maybe a couple of months from now if everything runs smoothly from here on in. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! When will sitre works start? 7Jun 06, 2012 3:12 pm Hi Babysaurs, we signed contractson a friday, 1 week later had council approval, 1 week after that had finance approval, 1 week for the builder to organise supplies and book in for site cut. site cut and drains went in the week later. so 3 weeks all up then there was movement on the block. Thats as far as weve got so far, its been raining so slab has been delayed a little. good luck it will all happen really soon. Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! SITE WORKS STARTED TODAY!!!!! 8Jul 02, 2012 3:11 pm Our neighbour accross the road form our block cam to hubbys work this morning to tell him that they jad started cutting our block out today!! SITE WORKS HAVE STARTED!!!!! 10Jul 05, 2012 6:03 pm Hi Babysaurs, another Adelaide build to watch Congratulations on site works I was reading some of your posts re kitchen colours, what did you end up getting? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! SITE WORKS HAVE STARTED!!!!! 11Jul 05, 2012 9:54 pm Pipes have gone in today for the bathrooms, laundary and kitchen!! And the steal etc arrived today for the footings so excited! Its weird looing at the house with all the trenches as it looks smaller then we thought even though its not a small house really. Dreamcometrue we are in near Clare so not technically Adeladie:) We ended up with Pearle Soapstone Laminate (a ligher grey) for the bench tops and Hecienda Black for the cupboards:) with brushes stainless kickers:) Had a minor freak out about it a few days after choosing it (listen to to many other peoples comments i think) but went to another kithen place to look at simlar on display and put our minds at ease. I cant wait to see it all together now and best part my toddlers dirty finger marks wont show lol. I did not want a white kitchen as we have one now and its imposible to keep clean with 2 little kids and 1 dirty hubby lol. Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! SITE WORKS HAVE STARTED!!!!! 15Jul 11, 2012 8:53 pm Hi Babysaurs.......another SA build ..... We are at the same stage as you.....well nearly, our plastic is down and they are laying the mesh tomorrow Other than the council taking 10 months to give us approval (we got caught up in the Barossa and Mclaren Vale Protection Bill) the build process so far has been really quick....we signed up with our builder about 2 weeks ago, a week later they started! We got the engineers report done ourselves and also organised for the site to be scraped (we got these done while we were waiting for the council, to save on time) My DH was talking to the builders today and they said that the slab is being poured on Tuesday (fingers crossed for the weather!) I can,t wait for the slab to go down, because once that,s done then it all seems to move along pretty quickly Good luck with it all and I,m looking forward to following your build Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! WE HAVE A SLAB!!!!! 16Jul 17, 2012 3:10 pm WE HAVE A SLAB YAY!!! Slab was started and finnes yesterday:))))) Nothing happened last week due to rain:) When will they start the next stage? And will they send out the invocie for the first stage payment asap? Will do stop work until its paid? How long do they leave the slab to dry for normally? Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! WE HAVE A SLAB!!!!!! 17Jul 17, 2012 4:03 pm BIG CONSLABULATIONS the next stage is about 2-3 weeks from slab down.... so your bricks should arrive 2 weeks from when they slab was laid. Yes you will receive a progress payment form any day now for your slab. ummm i think they give you a specific number of days to pay before work is halted I pay mine on the day i get it just so it doesnt delay anything heheh I am not sure how long it takes the slab to dry Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! WE HAVE A SLAB!!!!!! 18Jul 17, 2012 4:38 pm Congratulations Yes, I expect you will get the invoice for the 1st stage in the next few days We,re slightly behind you,we got our slab today! They are still up there screeding it off......the weather was perfect for it, thank goodness as last week the weather was terrible The builder told us today that they will start the frame next week, so hopefully yours will start soon All the best Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our Long Awaited Build!! WE HAVE A SLAB!!!!!! 20Jul 17, 2012 6:03 pm CONSLABULATIONS we had our frames started about 4 days after slab was poured, both invoices came at once, we had 7 days to pay but cause of a bank stuff up it took longer it didnt hold anything up! roof was put on 2 days after frame was finished! goodluck for a speedy build!!! Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7180 What? It's a lighting question, the control joint is only needed at 12m centres, a bulkhead or change of direction will suffice as a 'break' in the ceiling, just make… 8 8572 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17602 |
