Loved Loretta's white ones, but we're not clean enough. . . went for beige. So cheap, that if they get dirty, you can just throw them out and get new ones! Woohoo! Or alternatively, buy a pu leather cleaning kit from Ikea. Re: Vess's Build - Ready to do it again lol 442Oct 08, 2012 8:42 pm I was told to use a magic eraser to get the marks off the white ones. And yes, crumbs in the stitching is a pain in the #%^* but microfiber cloth gets it al clean with easy wipe over. The staining and final finish was done by a guy called Ian. Funnily enough he actually does lots of work for Genneral Staircases but charges half as much. DH found him somehow and I could not be happier with the colour and low sheen finish. There are 3 routed lines (non slip) in the front part of the tread and they sure slow you down coz they are brutal on bare feet but it makes you walk slower down the steps lol Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 455Oct 20, 2012 6:49 am I managed to get a sleep in today. Not a big one but I love the double doors into living area downstairs. Once they are closed you can't hear anything from my room. I know the rest of them are down there having breakfast, watching TV and talking but I hear - nothing. Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 456Oct 20, 2012 7:03 am Yay Vess!! Stairs look fabbo. Lucky you with a sleep in, our bedroom being next to the dining/living with the large roof space and polished 'Crete make sleep in near impossible. Am wondering if I should get an attractive door snake for the master to shut out some noise?? Oh we'll when the kids are a bit older and sleeping till noon I might finally get to sleep past 7 lol Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 457Oct 20, 2012 10:11 am Vess your stairs look amazing!!! We've got stairs that are similar by Genneral Stairs, we've got the same glass, but have a timber hand rail, and I think they'll be stained a similar colour. Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 458Oct 20, 2012 6:26 pm Hello Vess Your staircase is looking great Can I ask what kind of bamboo or timber on the stairs and who did those beautiful bamboo or timber for you! Thanks Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 459Oct 20, 2012 9:48 pm Hi Kiki Timber is Victorian Ash. It isn't the hardest timber you can get but still very good. It has a grey undertone to the timber but the stain is a black stain 50% diluted with thinners to get that colour. The guy who did it was fantastic and it looks better than I expected. Re: Vess's Build - Stairs complete 460Oct 21, 2012 6:51 am So you sound pretty happy with all your acoustic insulation then! yay for sleep ins and for placing your master away from the busy areas.
