Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 24, 2012 2:45 pm Or a modern wood look kitchen please? Have our selectons next week and no idea what colours to do out kitchen. We likt the wood look but not sure it will go with the rest of the house as its fairly modern. I dont like white as too har to keep clean with toddlers! Are the gloss pannels easier to clean then the laminate though? Re: Anyone have any pics of your kitchen thats NOT white? 2May 24, 2012 3:14 pm Depends how 'not white' you want. No white at all? The colors I picked were largely based on this display: http://tinyurl.com/d2cql75 Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. We haven't finished it yet, so no tiling but you can see the wood look and the lighter top... in our rental we have a light grey laminate for our cupboards and it is horrible as far as showing marks (we have a 4yo) and the streaks are horrible! our bathroom has darker cupboards and the streaks you can barely see. The kitchen has no texture or anything to it, just one colour...whereas the bathroom has a very fine vertical line to it. Maybe that helps disguise streakiness! I personally wouldn't put the timber look with wooden floorboards. But some display homes have it and it looks great, but they normally have a different colour kickboard OR they have stone waterfall edges...this breaks up the wood. Re: Anyone have any pics of your kitchen thats NOT white? 5May 24, 2012 3:47 pm We have a dark wood look laminate which shows every finger print ... I would definitely recommend either silk or gloss for your 4 year old ... latest trend seems to be white overheads which you could have Have you checked out the "show us yoor kitchen thread" .. there are some fantastic kitchens on there ... but here's ours ... Re: Anyone have any pics of your kitchen thats NOT white? 7May 25, 2012 1:48 pm I was having similar problems before deciding on our kitchen colours as my DH didn't want white either. I found realestate.com have a idea's section on their website, which you can then look at various kitchens to give you some idea's. This helped us to decide on our kitchen colours Here is the link - http://www.realestate.com.au/home-ideas/space-kitchens We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! I had a lot of trouble picking my kitchen colours as I didn't want white or brown cabinets and it seems pretty much every display home in Perth has white and/or brown kitchens so there wasn't a lot to use as inspiration for our kitchen.
