Handover 8 months ago, but I sold it last week. Kitchen looks familiar , tho I changed to the WIP in corner and left the sink as is. Keep up the good work. Cheers Echo. Just squizing at your thread, your place looks awesome. I bet you were sorry to see it go. They are looking after me well too, though I bet they will be glad to see the end of this build! We have had a few hiccups with a cavity sliding door not being made or delivered on time, but that was to be expected. Anything custom always finds a way to present itself with unexpected consequences! ![]() ![]() WA: Building "The Rendezvous" with Ventura Homes 5May 24, 2012 1:15 am Hello!! Thanks for starting a thread! Why?! For the following reasons: 1) I'm building with Aussie Living Homes (Ventura's baby) and 2) I think I'm almost exactly one week ahead of you! Can't say for certain, as I only visit the site on weekends, but when I visited on Sunday just gone, I had a roof!! After the slab, the roof is the next über exciting moment.... For me. I will wait patiently to see your roof pics!! Re: WA: Building "The Rendezvous" with Ventura Homes 6May 24, 2012 3:34 am Hi Alt, Your bathroom layout seems very interesting! Do you have any photos of what it will look like? It seems like a great way of utilising the space, but I'm having trouble picturing the shower in front of the bath. Thanks ![]() Re: WA: Building "The Rendezvous" with Ventura Homes 7May 24, 2012 12:10 pm Hi scoofy, the bathroom is definately a bit different. It ended up being a very awkward room due to the door being on the short end (the by product of creating a proper powder room). In theory, it should look similar to this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ At the moment it looks like this (it is a really hard room to photograph) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here are the different elevations: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There are a few parts to this design that irk me, but this was the best compromise between my partner, myself and the builder. If I had my way, I would do away with the shower curb and replace the brick wall with a glass shower screen. Re: WA: Building 8May 24, 2012 12:28 pm ![]() when I visited on Sunday just gone, I had a roof!! Oooh congratulations Caz! Unfortunately no roof for me yet *sob*, but it looks like they have put in the supports to which the sheeting is screwed, so it cant be too far away. I did spot some of our guttering on site ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They have been busy rendering over the brickwork, both inside and out. They are about half way through rendering inside, so I assume progress will slow until it is dry. (i'm rather partial to having an awesome bath in the ensuite) The open living area at the back looks like it will be amazing! And i will definately be following to see how the bathroom works out! Its a really cleaver idea, and makes sense as when i'm in bath i always make it spill over the edge, so having the shower there makes perfect sense!!! Plus, you wouldn't need a shower caddy as you can just use the bath to store stuff! ![]() ![]() Jen ![]() ![]() Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ![]() Check out my Build Thread!! I see what you mean about awesome baths, is that a spa bath I see in your plans?? I agonised over the bathroom design for ages. I am hoping it wont be too 'radical' if we ever wanted to sell. I tried having the drain moved closer to the wall so that it could be converted into a normal shower, but the builder was not keen on it. Re: WA: Building "The Rendezvous" with Ventura Homes 12May 25, 2012 2:19 pm I hope so scoofy! This thread is missing the juicy interior selection stuff, so here are a few of the selections. We are going for a neutral house which we can accent with artwork and furnishings, so the overal colour scheme is white, grey, black. Our benchtops (kitchen and bathroom) are carbon essa stone. The cabinetry is polytec classic white and the kickboards are laminex charcol. The floor tile is polished porcilain. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In the ensuite we are using a feature tile across the backwall, shown below. The side walls will be white. The same white tiles will be used in the bathroom and laundry. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The majority of the changes were made to the appliances and tapware. We decided to supply a lot of things ourselves. It is not the cheapest way to do things, but when you have stone benchtops, you only want to cut them once. The first thing we did away with were the standard semi recessed basins. With the rebate from the original basins, we were able to buy granite top mount basins (which were on sale) with a little bit left over to offest the additional 'non standard installation' charges. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also did away with the standard undermount kitchen sink because my partner doesnt believe they are as hygenic and easy to clean as a top mount sink. Kitchen sinks arent the prettiest of things, unless you are spending a lot of money on them. I managed to score the below sink for $800ish from over east ($300 better than the best price I was offered in WA) and thought it would make a lovely feature - if you cant hide it, make it a feature! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think it will match the glass gass cooktop which I picked up at a closing down sale, for a very good price. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Whenever we entertain we always manage to congregate around the kitchen, so we though it was worth spending a bit more money to get something that looks good. My mum is really looking forward to the house being completed so she can have her spare room back. My kitchen sink has been in there (along with many other things that were also on sale) for over 18 months. My OH doesnt like "girlie clutter" so finding exactly the right couch, coffee table or piece of wall art will be ... erm ... "interesting"

We tried entertaining in an apartment and it didnt really work. This time I will have plenty of space. I am a bit worried about the size of the kitchen island bench. Do you think it is too small? Congratulations on your colorbond moment ![]() Thankyou! I really like the colour, not too dark, not too light. I came across the basins completely by accident. They are from this store: The Stone Super Store, they have all sorts of stuff and seem to be moving into composite stone baths, basins, sinks etc. I think the next stage of the build is plaster, ceiling, windows and doors. *sniffle* I dont want to be locked out! Re: WA: Building "The Rendezvous" with Ventura Homes 20May 29, 2012 2:36 pm I dont think it is too small at all..... it is 2.040 by 1.2 m.... The walkway around the island is 1.34m wide which is great ( i wouldnt go smaller then 1.2m ) If you were to extend the island i would only do so by 30cm max otherwise it will take from the open entertaining feel of the kitchen, anymore then 30cm will enclose it and make it look squashy.....
