Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 17, 2012 5:12 pm Have seem some Composite and PVC decking materials lately, the colour and wood-grain texture look pretty good, and they are stain/mold/fade resistant, a bit more expensive though, about $100/m2. I do like the real merbau for decking, but don't like the regular maintenance and it's not scratch-resistant, my preference is to use this PVC brand: http://www.gossencorp.com/deck-and-porch.php Has anyone use this type of material for decking before? Is it really almost maintenance-free and scratch/stain resistant? Is merbau easy to get scratches on? Thanks ! Re: Decking solution - Merbau, Composite or PVC? 3May 17, 2012 9:27 pm i read some reviews that found it got un-removable mould if you weren't careful. The cellulose mixture seems to break down. Is this stuff made of that? Re: Decking solution - Merbau, Composite or PVC? 5May 18, 2012 10:03 am I like the idea of the recycled plastic decking. I've been looking at this website for ModWood: http://modwood.com.au/default.asp?menuid=14 Re: Decking solution - Merbau, Composite or PVC? 6May 18, 2012 10:10 am secur_ed I like the idea of the recycled plastic decking. I've been looking at this website for ModWood: http://modwood.com.au/default.asp?menuid=14 Under maintenance, it looks like it needs just as much work as say Merbau. Its also 2.5 times the price. Re: Decking solution - Merbau, Composite or PVC? 8May 20, 2012 1:02 pm How about local hardwood as opposed to merbau? Its cheaper, looks just as good and you wont be affecting the orangutans. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7316 Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance!
