Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ray's Adelaide build 201Jul 09, 2014 1:48 pm I'd be playing it safe and sticking with the white grout. You can buy grout sealer and heaps of other stuff to help it stay white Re: Ray's Adelaide build 202Jul 09, 2014 2:41 pm I think the white would look the best... It's on the wall anyway, grout generally stays ok when it's not on the floor. You only have to look at white grout in public bathrooms, on the wall it's fine after many years! And as mentioned above, plenty of sealers and products to help it out Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Ray's Adelaide build 203Jul 09, 2014 7:47 pm Personally, I like a seamless look, so I'd choose white. Re: Ray's Adelaide build 204Jul 22, 2014 6:16 pm A couple of quick updates for y'all. We're getting close now... and of next week we have a walk through with the SS. Flooring and plumbing etc should all be finished early next week. Handover is looking like the 8th of August, with paving and landscaping booked in for the week of the 11th. It's feeling a bit surreal at this point that we might actually be living here soon... back in my own house again! A couple of pics, it has been limited due to a hectic schedule (note to others, dont try to buy an investment property when yours is still under construction. That's a headache. haha). On a side note, we have an awesome mortgage broker who has made our life sooo much simpler, so if anyone is on the lookout please feel free to PM me. A couple of pics to share now, one to show you the girls bathroom with the glass feature tile on the bath, and one of the ensuite wall (we decided to live dangerously and went with grey, albeit a compromise to a very light grey). I think it has turned out pretty well although I'll admit it won't be to everyone's taste. Both the bath and the ensuite will look fabulous when finished. How exciting to be so close. Re: Ray's Adelaide build 206Jul 30, 2014 12:23 pm No pics at the moment I'm afraid, but we're getting closer and closer... drove past this morning and the doors and windows have been stained and the garage door is in. I have to say the facade is looking quite imposing now with a darker render colour and a lot of timber. I like it... pics to come soon I promise. They've put all the powerpoints in, plumbing is going in at the moment, and floor coverings should start today/tomorrow too. PCI booked for next Friday. The downside is we still have to have the paving etc done, so the house will be there but I can't move in. le sigh. At least it'll give me a chance to seal the garage floor and slowly move stuff out of storage and into the house rather than doing it in a mad rush in one weekend. Most of the work has been done but the painters have a lot of catching up, and there were a number of things to be fixed in the kitchen... like two missing powerpoints in the island bench and a big gap between the countertop and cupboards! There was also some damage that they needed to sort out - nothing major. We were on site first thing this morning, and what a busy street! We had the landscapers start today, the fencing guys to survey the damage and quote some work for us, a bunch of painters, and the guys building our pergola. Pretty sure the neighbours will be glad when things return to normal in our street... So we're powering ahead, removalists are booked for Friday week so not long now. Woohoo! Here's a pic of the completed facade (sans nice outdoor lights). I'm sur it will come up better when I bring my decent camera and not the mobile phone, but I'm really happy with how it looks.
