I can't believe the last time I posted on this thread was September. We must have the slowest build in human history! So the progress is that we have a final contract, finance approved, and work has commenced on site... that only took two years The latest event in this dramatic saga is our site works. We had the slab cut out (all the way down to 1200mm), plastic down, steel in, and ready for the slab to be poured last Wednesday, that was put off for a day due to 43 degree temperature. Then comes Thursday and Friday - the single biggest downpour of rain in nearly 50 years. W T F ?!?! As a consequence our trenches all caved in, and now have to be re-filled... and then dug out all over again. Apparently we are going to have to wear some of the cost for that too. So the 100 tonnes of soil gets delivered to the site today, then we start the site works all over again. At least this only puts the schedule back another two weeks or so. That's nothing with what we've gone through thus far. Let's just hope all the issues are done and dusted before the actual building starts so at least that part can go smoothly! Fancy copping those extremes of weather at just the wrong time - it has been awful hasn't it? Good luck with the slab when it does go down! Looking forward to this one finally starting! For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Thanks McLaren. To say that I'm keen to get this completed would be a massive understatement. Don't forget while all this drama has unfolded I've been living in a 3x3m room in my MIL's house with my wife and two kids for the last 9 months!!! Re: Ray's Adelaide build 180Feb 21, 2014 2:12 pm How difficult that must have been. Hopefully the weather will stay clear long enough to get your slab, frame and roof done. After that they can work inside if the weather is bad outside. Building a new home, and looking for a garage builder (home builder not contracted to do this). Someone to build steel garage (double), colorbond, including supply and… 0 3252 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17601 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9565 |
