Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 10, 2012 2:31 am Hi All, I'm new to the site, in fact new to everything building really! Looking to build in Rapids Landing in Margaret River, block on hold and currently looking at builders. I think I've narrowed it down to Redink (The Grand) or Averling but if anyone has any experience with either, especially in South West WA your feedback and/or advice would be more than welcome, in fact any advice for a for a newby to building would be most appreciated. Thanks! Re: Advice to young players sort for Margs and in general. 2May 10, 2012 10:46 am havent got a lot of advice, but we are also building with RI. and have been moved to the south west division...[long story....but we are about 1/2 way between their perth/bunbury office.] apart from taking a long time to get the working drawings its been ok. no great dramas.....all builders will get their good and bad reviews...usually you will only hear bad. there are a few on here that are building with - or nearly completed - with RI too, but i think they are mostly metro. do a search for Redink and you should find a few threads. if your heart and yr gut are happy...go for it....cant promise it wont be stressful....but it is quite exciting too. and what a place to have to live.....poor you Re: Advice to young players sort for Margs and in general. 3May 10, 2012 4:09 pm Thanks for the response! I've trawled through a lot of the RI streams, as well as other review sites, just trying to gather as much info as I can, big decisions! But also exciting times! Yeah it is pretty tough down here but somehow I manage I will be interested to follow your build, good luck with the rest of it!! You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14099 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 17661 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12511 |
