Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2012 8:57 pm Hi All, Been a forum stalker for a while, and finally got enough courage to start my own post! We are building a custom designed home with Plunkett on a 611sqm block in St Leonards in Caversham/Dayton. We purchased the block almost a year ago and have been delayed with titles since March 2012, hoping June is our month! Our design is based on the Plunkett Kartika, after our first plan had to be scraped due to the new 6 star energy rating coming through before we could get to council Not Happy with the developer on this one! Our new plan is just as good (similar but the first one was just perfect) slightly smaller but with tones of awesome upgrades. We fell in love with St leonards the first time we went out there and bought as soon as we found a block wide/big enough for our dream home. We looked at Brookleigh and Taylors but none had any blocks any where near the size we wanted. Its a shame so many blocks out there are so long and skinny, so many house plans dont fit these types of lot shapes! Im hoping to share our building experience and hope to hear from others who are building with Plunkett or in the area. (really hoping to hear peoples exp with Shire approval and Plunkett build times) Until then...Sarie Re: Custom Plunkett Home in St Leonards 2May 11, 2012 1:01 pm Welcome to the forum Sarie I love the Kartika plan Have you made many changes to it? I love your original plan and can see why you are annoyed about having to change it! Not to take anything away from your new plan, they are both great just different Why did the original one not comply with 6star? Was it because of the house orientation? Thanks SB their main gripe was the living room and kitchen wouldnt be recieving alot of light since they were facing west with the large alfresco blocking the sun. It was already costing a fortune and to get it to 6 star compliance would have put us right over maybe next build! Re: Custom Plunkett Home in St Leonards 12May 11, 2012 5:56 pm Sarie Is this the Brad of 1066? Ha, yeah it is. You had me a bit worried for a minute then I worked out who it is.. Hey, how did you find out if your plans were 6-star or not? Is that through your builder, or someone else? I didn't even know about it until now so I better find out... Re: Custom Plunkett Home in St Leonards 13May 11, 2012 6:56 pm Hey sorry I scared ya, shouldve said its me from FB! With our original plans we asked about 6 star compliance and since we released it wasnt going to make it the builder made the new plan 6 star compliant - it costs more but ensures you'll get through shire approval. You usually dont find out if your house will pass until it goes through shire. Depending on which builder you're with and if your design is custom or Off the plan they maybe already know if the design is 6 star compliant. Re: Custom Plunkett Home in St Leonards 18May 21, 2012 8:31 am They must have added the lot numbers since Saturday cos we were out there checking it all out and didnt see them Our prestart is booked for the 14th June. Starting freaking out about Render colours!! Friends have advised we should be "texture coating" as its more hard wearing and looks better? Anyones thoughts? Re: Custom Plunkett Home in St Leonards 20May 21, 2012 10:32 am Ah didnt see those Brad, we have noticed the pegs for quiet a while but didnt take much notice. Have you had you site survey completed yet? I'd love to see what class of soil they say we've got! Hi, can anyone recommend a custom home builder who can build in north east area?
