Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2012 1:45 pm Hi, just got word that our builder wants us to paint the eaves before they go up TOMORROW!!! HELP I haven't even thought about what color they should be. Our house is being built out of Mt Gambia limestone blocks in a Sandstone color. The roof, gutters and windows are all Monument. Haven't chosen garage door yet. Any suggestions for them and, most importantly the eaves??? Do you do the eaves and posts the same? Also we will be having wide 1.8m verandas on the front and a 3m wide alfresco area at the back. What is normally the roof of them....cement sheet too like the eaves? And would you do them the same color? Thanks. Re: What color eaves and veranda posts? 2May 09, 2012 2:13 pm If you have a look on my thread we've got a Monument roof and chose Paperbark for the fascia and then painted the posts "Double Strength" Paperbark and the eaves "Half strength" paperbark - there's some photos that might give you an idea on how that would look......it's deliberately bland I'm afraid We'll be painting the veranda lining one of those colours too....not sure if we'll do the lighter or darker one, but the lining will be of fibro (on side verandas) and blueboard (on front verandah) Hope this helps some....good luck - nothing like some pressure when things HAVE to be done !!! Poor hubby ended up having a late night doing a white undercoat. We didn't and still haven't agreed on a color. I want to see the bricks first. As we are getting Limestone blocks in sandstone color. The builders didn't even end up putting them up cos the windows arrived and they put them in instead The bricks have arrived now too so need to get over there and have a good look. Thinking your Paperbark might be OK or even Merino. Love your house...looks gorgeous! nice colors Re: What color eaves and veranda posts? 4Jan 18, 2013 4:03 pm Hi I hope everything went well with your house and you probably enjoying living in it.
