Hi, I am new to this forum, although have been lurking in the background for a while. I have built a few homes in WA and I have always signed the HIA fixed price contract early on in the piece. I still have my last one which was signed only 2 months after plans drawn.
I am currently in the process of going through all of this again still in WA (heaven knows why!) and this particular builder is doing things so differently to the others I have used. Plans were drafted, I signed a PPA, Plans were submitted to council, I had pre-start, received council approval for which there were a couple of amendments which I had to sign and acknowledge and almost 2 weeks later I am still waiting for the contract to be drawn up for signing!!
Just seems all backward to me. In the past it has been so straightforward and once approval has been received the builders have gone to site within a couple of weeks. The last time I built was 4 1/2 years ago so I dont know if procedures have changed since then.
I am so confused and fed up with waiting as we have a very fine timeline for our finance approval left.
Is this normal? What are everyone else's experiences?
