Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Forever Home - SFive.2 by 8Homes - Build contract ap 122Jun 19, 2012 2:02 pm Thanks Carmel! It was a lovely day, and I was very spoilt! Build stuff warning: COLOURS!! We went around the display homes again yesterday as part of my birthday present (yes, I am slightly obsessed...), and we went to have another look at 'our' display. I discovered that I am no longer happy with the colour board I chose originally: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Clockwise from top left: Splashback, caesarstone bench, floor tiles, carpet, kitchen overheads, bathroom bench, cabinetry, wall paint (dulux grand piano quarter). I REALLY wanted a white kitchen, and the more I thought about the two-toned kitchen above, the more I want to change it. I also love the separate wet area tiles in the next colour scheme: (without flash) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (with flash) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Clockwise from top left: Splash back, wall paint (white duck quarter), caesarstone, wet area tiles, carpet, bathroom bench, all cabinetry, main area floor tile. So this morning I went to see the sales rep and told her we want to change colours (two days before signing contracts!). She called our pre-start coordinator, who said it can't be done. I "disagreed", so another person in the company has been sent an interesting email to change the colour scheme!! Will find out this afternoon if they are going to play nice, or if I need to put my crazy-hormonal-sleep deprived-mother of a newborn-don't mess with me face on and ensure my change is accommodated. Also for those pic piggies, our external selections: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ From left to right: render, windows, gutters, front & garage doors. Good news is we discovered we were double charged for the kitchen bench extension, as the walk in pantry upgrade automatically includes an 800mm extension. $981 back in our pockets! That is just funny that they say you can't change things before you have signed. Boof heads. Are you sure that this isn't the universe's way of suggesting these guys are a bit stupid? (yes I know - devils advocate, sorry ) Re: Our Forever Home - SFive.2 - colours p7 125Jun 19, 2012 5:23 pm Thanks Annette, Carmel! They don't want to meet my bad side, especially before contract signing, so they WILL behave! As for stupid... I have no faith in anyone working in the admin industry! I like your selections & pffft to not being able to change them. We were lucky when we were building as our builder was very easy going with changes. Although being that close to IKEA would be worse. Happy birthday and I love your colours. Re: Our Forever Home - SFive.2 - colours p7 136Jun 21, 2012 3:17 pm contracts signed... Actually really happy with how it went. There were quite a few items not included in the original quote, but existing items came in cheaper which completely offset the new charges. So the price ended up being what was quoted! Final plans look great, except the setback has been measured from the portico not the main structure wall, so that needs fixing. Site costs came in just under 1k cheaper than originally quoted, so glad we got the geo report & survey done. And the best part? The WIP is almost double the size originally thought! will post up final plans once the sprog gives me half a chance to scan them. Re: Our Forever Home - SFive.2 - colours p7 137Jun 21, 2012 3:34 pm WIP? I'll see you and raise you. Really excited and happy for you!
