Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Another plan to critique 21Mar 12, 2008 11:07 am Your WIR is about the same size as bedroom 4!!!
Why not share it with bedroom 4 - Put a wall left-right across the middle of the WIR and create an opening to bed 4. Use cavity sliding doors so as not to lose space inside. You'll still have a huge WIR - it just won't be the size of a whole room - just half or 3/5th of a room. Paula Re: Another plan to critique 23Mar 12, 2008 1:35 pm Quick chat with our building rep.
The WC upstairs will be slightly larger to accomodate the small vanity plus door and give enough room to open, get in and get out without any gymnastics needed. Apparently the pantry is big enough to walk in to 800mm deep and the shelves are 450mm - it "returns" in the little corner section that seems difficult to access. it's supposed to be more clear on the copy we will get at tender. So 2 weeks and we'll see how much it all costs! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Another plan to critique 25Mar 12, 2008 8:18 pm Plans look great... quite an interesting house with the angled kitchen bench and entry to alfresco.Love your wide entry and ofcourse the WIR... its fabulous.
Just some thoughts.. As your sink faces the leisure room what about a higher bench behind the sink (guard?) so that if your guests are sitting there dirty dishes are hidden. The master bedroom entry has a narrow wall length. Any thoughts a more sqaure entry perhps with double doors? ( Is the narrow entry for feng shui reasons?) Is that a gyprock wall in your theatre and leisure room? Looks nice. Have a great build Raz If you think you can, you can. Re: Another plan to critique 26Mar 12, 2008 8:57 pm Helyn as I carried the shopping in tonight through the whole house I realised you are such a wise woman. If it were my house, more to the point if I could in the house we are building - I'd have a door from the garage into the entry and another into the kitchen/dining space - my builder would have a fit if we changed the plans yet again. And who is the person who suggested shrinking that magnificent wir?? Must have been male! Fi has moved in!! Re: Another plan to critique 27Mar 13, 2008 10:06 am Paula NO NO!!! Every master bedroom needs a big WIR. Big - yes, size of a large bedroom NO!!!! Paula You dont want the kids coming in through the robe whenever they like.. I am not suggesting any link via the WIR, just a solid wall. the doors are to the relevent rooms. I have seen too many large WIR's which are filled with junk despite the owners best intentions. brittany And who is the person who suggested shrinking that magnificent wir?? Must have been male! What gave it away? the fact that is is common sense???? Re: Another plan to critique 28Mar 13, 2008 10:17 am 3XB, i think we'll all have to agree to disagree on this one!!!
I think that the WIR is a great idea and i would've loved to have had one too. I do take the same opinion as you regarding really large Master bedrooms that take up 1/4 of the area of homes.... So big that you need to put a lounge suite and coffee table in there just to fill up the room!!! But if that is what some people want, who are we to say NO, they can't have it, that they can't indulge themselves... To me a large WIR, walk in or butlers pantries etc. are all wonderful luxuries that not everyone appreciates and/or can afford. I think any robe/room or house for that matter can be messy if the owners are not "organised" people. But I don't think that's a reason NOT to indulge if we can in life? If you want it and can afford it, then get it!!!!! Re: Another plan to critique 29Mar 13, 2008 10:30 am Raz Just some thoughts.. As your sink faces the leisure room what about a higher bench behind the sink (guard?) so that if your guests are sitting there dirty dishes are hidden. I think there is a hole in the wall that starts about 30cm above the sink area - will have to check this! Raz The master bedroom entry has a narrow wall length. Any thoughts a more sqaure entry perhps with double doors? ( Is the narrow entry for feng shui reasons?) It was only because we enlarged the ensuite to fit a bath - I was thinking of having some large niches in the wall for artwork or something to break it up. I'm not sure about the feng shui! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Another plan to critique 30Mar 13, 2008 10:39 am **Phoenix** I do take the same opinion as you regarding really large Master bedrooms that take up 1/4 of the area of homes.... So big that you need to put a lounge suite and coffee table in there just to fill up the room!!! Nope, not my opinion at all, I love really large master bedrooms. **Phoenix** But if that is what some people want, who are we to say NO, they can't have it, that they can't indulge themselves... I never said that, I just expressed a personal view on the plan as requested in the very first post in this thread. The OP will do as they will with what I say. **Phoenix** I think any robe/room or house for that matter can be messy if the owners are not "organised" people. But I don't think that's a reason NOT to indulge if we can in life? Indeed but we should try to be wary of the impact of our descisions so that we are still as happy down the line. Being aware of pitfalls is actually a GOOD think, it helps us either change things or to cope with our descisions. I simply pointed out some personal experience - having been through hundreds of display homes and formed an opinion on them I noted that excessivly large WIR's always seemed to be messy despite an ohterwise tidy house. I am sure that the OP will be happy with this house regardless of any changes - it is a beautiful house. I am sure that the OP will be happy with this house regardless of any changes - it is a beautiful house. Our reason for a large WIR is for all of the things that can be quite bulky - for some strange reason I have a fair few ball gowns and winter coats in different materials and colours. We tried the idea of having the winter wardrobe and the summer wardrobe - but Sydney is so different (like our current summer!) that I was forever pulling things in and out of their storage spaces. We'd like to put a nice long ottoman or chaise in there so it could be a real "dressing" room. My mum makes jewellery - so I have heaps! And prefer to keep that all out of the bathroom. But all good thoughts I had lots of practice being neat with our WIR when our unit was on the market - it was hard but great training! After 4 years - we're in! Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle. We're planning our garage/external laundry to master bedroom and… 0 11117 i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17278 5 10477 |
