Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 04, 2012 11:41 am Hi guys, Apologies if this has been tackled elsewhere, but i don't have the luxury to dig in the archives right now. So here it is posting this topic. We decided to avail of independent inspection services since we are totally new to house building and we personally don't know anybody who can help us, so dropping inspection is out of the question. Ideally, taking both inspections would be the best scenario. But it's not possible in all cases, particularly our case. Thus, I'd appreciate if you could share which inspection would you go for if you are to choose only one between Fixing/Paint Stage Inspection or Pre-Handover Inspection? My view, going with Fixing/Paint stage inspection could be an advantage for us to identify issues at a reasonably earlier stage and the builder can have ample time to rectify them.. Also, come handover inspection, we would already have an idea what to look for since we went past fixing/paint stage. On the other hand, there is some thought that fixing/paint stage inspection may not be necessary anymore as pre-handover inspection is more important since build is nearing logical completion and any issues will be rectified anyway within the warranty period. Not really sure on this, hubby and I have different views actually. Would love to hear other's opinions on this. Thanks. Re: Fixing/Paint Stage Inspection or Pre Handover Inspection 2May 04, 2012 11:45 am I doubt the fixing stage would be as beneficial as pre handover. Most issues occur in the very last weeks. You don't want to know at handover your walls are bowed or there is no compliance, defects may take weeks to fix. Thanks for much mate. I see that you do cabinets before flooring. For timber flooring, for most parts it's fine because it's got base plates, and for door jabs you can… 7 11561 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn.
