Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Has anyone built with Kurmond Homes ? 21Mar 19, 2013 11:38 pm Thanks Doohan - I do love my bath! We ended up spending more. Kurmond gave us a hefty allowance out of our build (internal/external) but it's a big home. We have spent that allowance just on carpet and tiles (internal only), but 60% of that spend was just in the labour of laying tiles. We have over 160sqm of tiling and at $65 per sqm it adds up. We still have the front verandah and alfresco to do, but concrete will do for now.. So yes it's actually costing more, but we need to allow for what Kurmond would have charged upgrading to 600mm fomat tiles through out plus additional for the front entry border etc. Our carpet is a higher grade also with top underlay, so I think we will come out even, but we did not need to borrow money for the tender, which we would have had to have done as you need to prove funds upfront before you can build and we didn't have this money then. We saved over the 12 month period of building and saved the cash so we've saved in interest too I guess. We did this for our appliances too although the rebate on those was pretty dismal. I have just PM'd you back too.
