We removed the carpet and the floor tiles. At the time that we did our tender (and tiles) the 600x600 included an additional laying charge. I was told recently that Rawson have removed this and the 600x600 are now standard to lay and do not incur any additional charges to lay. You might want to clarify this at your tender meeting. The only thing that you may have to pay extra for is the cost of the tiles as Tile Direct (Rawsons supplier) might not have 600x600 in the $27.50 allowance.
For us the tiles we got on sale and they were only $20 per metre and our tiler is charging $45/m to lay them. So with the credit that we have been given by Rawson this will cover our tiles, where if we had to pay their laying charge we would have had to pay an additional $10K.
I would go down to Tile Direct (they are at Seven Hills) and have a look at their tiles and what is in their standard range and what would be an additional cost. The tile direct people can probably tell you if the 600x600 are an additional laying charge. That way you can work out the cost of the tiles and if it would be better to do it after handover or whether it would work better to have it in the contract.
With the driveway we got a $5900.00 credit. We were told it was about 36m2 of concrete. However, we have a 30m set back from the street and we are not getting a concrete driveway at this stage.
With the Rawson driveway they are quoting over $100m2 for plain concrete. I would ring around concretors in your area and see how much they charge for plain concrete.
Thanks Jen1977 for the info.
That's really good news if they have included laying of 600x600 as standard. Yes i wanted to go and see Tiles direct last Sunday but they were closed. Going there this Saturday to check on the standard range. If I have to pay extra for the tiles but not for laying that's good enough. I spoke to a couple of places and they say if they need to do screeding "not sure of the spellings on this" then the laying per sqm will be around $70 - $80.
You are right about the drive way. I was told by my sales guy that i will get a refund of $5500 for my drive way which works out to be roughly $100 per SQM. I checked with a couple of other people and i can get it done for around $80 per SQM. But one good hint the sales guy gave me was to leave it in the tender and then remove it later on so i can get the funding from the bank for the drive way instead of paying out of pocket. Need to clarify in my tender presentation this though as I don't know what hidden cost will be involved if i remove anything after the tender is signed.
I am even thinking about removing the free standing bath from the ensuite and get them to put the water connection for me to install a bath later. their bath is $2200. I should be able to source a bath for a cheap price. given that its a free standing one, i doubt there will be much labour cost. Still checking my options on this.
Thanks
