Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 26, 2012 12:41 pm Hi, We are building with Dennis and I have selected the following for our external colours but the more I read the more confused I get about how its going to look Bricks: Austral Hawksburn with off-white mortar Roof: CB Monument Gutters: CB Monument Fascia: CB Classic Cream Windows: White Birch Front door/verandah posts: Cream We have a provincial facade on the Devonport and its a large house being 39 sq under roof. I am really concerned about this all looking too dark. We had orginally chosen Ironstone as the roof but this has a tendancy to look 'too blue' and didnt want Woodland grey as I see a lot of green through it. Most forums I have read put either Paperbark or Evening haze as the fascia with Monument so this has been getting me worried I would really appreciate any comments regarding our choices and reassurance that Classic Cream will look fine with Monument roof!! Thanks so much!!!! Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 2Apr 26, 2012 1:08 pm Hi Pearl1, We are also building with Dennis, we did our colour selection about a month ago and then a few weeks ago I had doubts (panic really) about the colour selections. We are having Boral Twilight for the roof which is practically black and have Monument Gutter, Paperbark Fascia, Merino windows (same as paperbark) and Monument Garage Door with Boral Mocha Bricks. I was also concerned that all the Monument with the Twilight roof would look to dark and would the paperbark fascia work with the monument gutter. I have since come back down from my panic and feel really good about the decision now. Personally I really like Monument and think your roof will look great, I personally also think the classic cream will look nice with the monument, it will just brighten up the darkness. The Classic cream and the Paperbark are very similar, just that the paperbark is a darker cream (in my opinion anyways) When did you do your colour selections? If you are really doubting your decision you can change it. We changed our selection, we originally had paperbark gutters, fascia and garage door but I wanted a darker look (who knew I would later worry that it was too dark) and I had no trouble changing it, I just called and got the email address of our colour consultant and it was changed (our colour consultant was just fantastic, I have nothing but positive words about her) Anyways, I do know how you feel cos I went through the same thing a few weeks ago. Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 3Apr 26, 2012 1:59 pm Hey Pearl. I'm at work today and feeling a bit bored - can you post me up a pic of your front house elevation and I'll play around with Paint and see if I can put it altogether? I did it for mine and it was a big help to see what it actually looked like... Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 5May 26, 2012 10:26 pm Did you make a decision? I'm currently tossing up between Classic Cream and Paperbark for eaves/fascia/downpipes for our reno and we hope to have our roof done in Monument. Such a tough decision! Renovating our 1970s home Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 6May 26, 2012 11:48 pm Hi Pearl1, if you'd like to see a dark roof with monument gutters and classic cream fascia, feel free to have a look at my thread as this is what I have and I think it looks great together!! Kayla Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 7May 28, 2012 12:06 pm Thanks everyone. It is such a tough decision and I was getting to the point where it was nearly too late and just had a flip out! We did make a decision and went with Cream Fascia with Monument roof and gutters. The dark brown bricks with white mortar have really complemented it. I LOVE it and personally think paperbark would have been too dark for our style of house and it being such a long house needed a lighter colour. Our White birch windows complement it as well. We have had a lot of people comment on our selections and how fantastic they look together.... ahhh relief!! Our house is flying along now.... frame and roof on with bricks nearly half done!!! Yay I want to attach a picture for you to see... but i cannot figure out how to do it!!!! If anyone can help that would be great Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 8May 28, 2012 12:23 pm I use photobucket.com.au - just sign up for an account, upload your photos from your computer and then when you view your album, if you hover over the photos it will give you a link to the photo (bottom one) simply click this to copy and then paste it here. Hope that makes sense Kayla Re: Help please - confused about external colour selections! 11May 28, 2012 1:53 pm Looking awesome! The colours do look lovely together If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 6282 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 9162 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3618 |
