Hi All,
We are building our first custom home, we have built before with volume builders, but never had this much input! We are using a company to help design our home who specialise in sloping blocks. We have a 4m fall over the building envelope and are therefore building a split level home. I've attached our plans and elevations, any comments on the floorplan welcome. I have already been given some great ideas about changing the layout slightly to use the north orientation better. I'm a little concerned about all the stairs, any ideas welcome!! We had to lift the back of the house up to limit the use of retaining walls and excavations to the yard...this meant...yes you guessed it...more stairs! To give some context, there is just 2 of us in the home there aren't any children and there will not be any. We love loft or warehouse style homes with open void areas and open plan living. We know this can mean noise, lack of privacy and hard to heat, but we are addicted to this style of home!! We also plan on being in this home for the next 40 years until we are too old to manage all the stairs...then we are off! For now though, we are young enough to manage!!
We are bulding in Melbourne.
The external colours in the 3D drawing below are NOT our colours!! They are just a drawing to give an idea of how the house sits on the block. Also, the pool is incorrect on these drawings. It's actually a lap pool that stretches across the entire width of the back of the house.
Thanks everyone!
