Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 22, 2012 8:31 pm Hi Everyone, Ok, here's my situation so far. We've been building for two years now ( why you ask? well, our builder went bankrupt & had to find a new builder )and FINALLY we've moved in about 3 weeks ago . We need to do the driveway, but can't decide whether to do it stamped or stenciled concrete, some contractors are saying stamping can be slippery, can anybody tell me if that's true? Re: Driveway, stamped or stenciled? 2Apr 22, 2012 9:40 pm The final sealing coat is what makes the driveway as slippery as your first builder!! . The surface of a stamped drive is less slippery. Re: Driveway, stamped or stenciled? 3Apr 23, 2012 7:37 am Stenciled will give you more options for pattern, where stamped will limit you to what ever stamps the concretor has. Saying that I can't remember the last time I seen a stamped driveway being poured, in Brisbane at least, and of all the ones i've seen I haven't seen a lot that are great. They start out great but as the concrete gets harder the stamps make less inprint, and by the time they get to the curb there's about a 75% difference in the pattern. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9796 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10892 |
