Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Henley's house and land package 21Jun 18, 2012 5:12 pm popped in to my bank today and signed our contracts. then off to our lot to do a last minute clean up. sent a message to my admin (with photos) and supervisor confirmed he is happy with site condition! yay!! land settlement is scheduled next week. slowly, we're getting there! *so excited* Re: Henley's house and land package 22Jun 18, 2012 6:07 pm congratulations hope things move along quickly and more importantly... smoothly Re: Henley's house and land package 24Jul 28, 2012 12:13 am it's been month since our land settlement and construction hasn't started yet i got an email from henley saying my admin is away all week and my husband got a call from my site supervisor today saying that construction will commence next week or the week after (this was the exact same response i got from an admin manager from Henley two weeks ago!!) I'm getting really frustrated now! If they still don't do anything from next week I'll definitely crack up!!! Re: Henley's house and land package 26Aug 06, 2012 7:28 pm tengals wow sounds exactly like us! yeah! they are pretty slow! we went to see our land last week and the fence was up and some pipes.. yesterday we went there to have a look and i saw our meterbox up and there were some land (looks reddish to me) but i really don't know what it was for! sorry, i'm totally clueless with these things! hubby thinks it for the slab or something, anyway, i'm hoping that they will do something this week because I can't wait for our build to progress!!! on the other hand, we got a statement from wyndham council (we're building in Kingsford Estate in Point Cook, by the way) and it says we needed to pay for the rates around $1K+++. Is this normal? Are we supposed to pay for this already even if we haven't occupied and our build hasn't even begun? thanks. Re: Henley's house and land package 27Aug 06, 2012 9:39 pm That sounds really high for your rates notice if you haven't built yet. Maybe get your coveyencer to have a look at it before paying anything. A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it... Maybe get your coveyencer to have a look at it before paying anything. thanks Buttercup. We are totally clueless as this is our first build that's why! I just rang the council and the lady I spoke with said that I need to pay for it regardless if I haven't started my build yet, it is for our block of land so I had to pay for it. I wanted to ask her more questions as I find it too steep but she sounded not too happy at all and she just hung up on me. lol Re: Henley's house and land package 29Aug 07, 2012 3:16 pm Im in qld and when we got out first rates notice after purchasing the land it was about $750 and most of it was transfer fees the council charges you for putting the water, sewerage, ownership on their records into your name. You should find the next one will be significantly lower. Our latest was $450. Re: Henley's house&land package*Roof frames, gutter&windows u 36Sep 02, 2012 8:38 pm We went to visit our site today and our roof frames & windows are up and some gutter has been done. While checkin on our home, i noticed the workmanship during the frame process seemed rough/rushed. Is it really like this? Is this normal? Or I'm just a bit OTT? This is our first build that's why I'm so grateful for sites like this which really enlightens me in so many ways. Please check the photos and see them for yourselves. If it had just been the one, I'd have thought "okay, sure, -it happens", but you appear to have at least 5 examples showing this kind of workmanship. I'd be demanding it be corrected to an acceptable standard. Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. Settlement: 29/05.
