Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 3Oct 14, 2012 12:31 pm We initially wanted to build the Sienna Vogue Q1, but it was over our budget so we settled on the Maya 4, which is in their Breakthrough Series. Loved the Sienna's though, would have definitely gone with either the Vogue or the 15M Q1 if we could afford it! But the look is really what we want. And ... fits the block well. Were you happy with Maya ? Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 5Oct 14, 2012 1:27 pm We haven't started building it yet, but when we started inquiring the builder sales guy said that a lot of people who like the Sienna Vogue also like the Maya and so he showed it to us, and we really like it. It's very space efficient and has a grand alfresco, which we love, so we haven't looked back so far. It's also the same total size as the Sienna Vogue (15sq), so we didn't even have to downsize. Thanks Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 7Oct 21, 2012 12:17 pm Maya looks good . We seem to be on the 2 steps forward - 1 step back ladder. Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 8Oct 21, 2012 2:53 pm Have you decided on the Maya? Just to let you know, in case they haven't told you, Plantation will be increasing their prices on homes from the 1st Nov. I only found out yesterday when I called to ask about something else, and he told me. Apparently it could be anywhere from $2-10k increase. I reckon they will only go up. But - yes - we have signed. So set price ... for now. Thanks Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 10Oct 21, 2012 9:02 pm That's exciting, Mike, can't wait to see how your build goes so we can compare notes! We will definitely be signing in the next few days too. Do you have a block of land ready, if so, where? SEQ. Can't believe all the "stressers" that come up - all the time ... I reckon comparing builds will be a good idea. We've changed the house around a bit - staying within their guidelines and roof lines. Almost no hallway so saving good space there. Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 12Oct 22, 2012 9:58 am Make sure you add a link to your build thread once you start one! I'm curious about what changes you've made? All we've done is flip the design, add a 1.5m wall between the living and dining areas, and we're possibly adding a bulkhead to the kitchen over the "breakfast bar" area to separate it a little bit from the living area. I love how the open plan allows so much extra room, but we're trying to think of ways to also make each area a little more separate, hence the bulkhead and extra wall. The biggest frustration is trying to get a simple answer from people - eg what would an alternative product cost. Surely they can work out a metre/product cost and give a pretty good estimate ? The people seem efficient but the process is slow. Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 16Oct 23, 2012 9:36 am Yeah, I know what you mean, Mike, we haven't been successful in getting alternative products quoted at all. We wanted a smaller/cheaper A/C system, but they wouldn't install anything else than their super high end Daikin, so now we have to get it outside the builder. We also asked if we could have credit for any painting they didn't do (for feature walls we'll do ourselves), but no. I also suspect we'll have to pay extra to get laminate wood flooring in areas that are normally tiled, even though they should technically be around the same price. Oh well... By "areas" that are normally tiled - do you mean "wet" areas - or kitchen etc ? Re: Plantation homes - Sienna Style ? 18Oct 23, 2012 9:55 am Yeah, kitchen and living/dining areas (these normally come tiled unless you upgrade to different flooring).
