Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 06, 2008 1:57 pm Hi guys,
Still trying to get all my colours etc organised (even tho we haven't even got a block of land yet ) I am REALLY stuck on outdoor colours...I like the look of modern/simplistic homes and have been searching for a nice brick... I'm sure M uses both Austral and Boral bricks, I am after a brown coloured brick (not too dark not too light, with a bit of variation between bricks rather than one colour throughout ) and was interested in the Homestead Range - after I saw Rellie's bricks - Austral Homestead Tan, however, I have since visted the Austral site and can't find them anywhere?? Have they been discontinued.... The other range I didn't mind was the Melbourne range (is this an upgrade?)- In both Newport and Brighton....does anyone have pics or know of any homes in Melbourne's west that have used either of these, I can see pics of the bricks sitting on display and on the website, however, would love to see them used on a home. For your information we plan to build the Laguna with Modern Facade http://www.metricon.com.au/victoria/homes/laguna/facades/default.aspx Just realised when you click on this link it brings up the wrong facade - our just needs to be clicked on underneath - Modern. Can't get it to bring it up on here.... And I would hope to have dark grey roof tiles, maybe a light colour for the cladding on the second story - not white but something neutral, No idea what colour for the portico (any ideas?) and the rest in brick. Windows would be white aliminium, maybe a grey garage door- similar to roof tiles and hopefully a nice feature front door I am finding outdoor colours really hard and would love suggestions. Thanks heaps Belinda Re: Exterior/Facade help :) 2Mar 06, 2008 5:13 pm We've selected much the same colours for our M Montego28 as what is on display at Berwick. Bricks are Austral 'Latrobe' which are darkish brown with occasional blue 'smudges' in them, flush natural mortar, and Bristile 'Magnum' (dark grey) tiles. HOWEVER, instead of the yellowish gutters and fascias that seem to be everywhere, we've gone for a deep blue called 'Ocean Blue' from Colorbond.
So, the window frames, gutters, downpipes, window infills, fascias, garage door and even the front door will all be the same contrasting colour, matching the bluish bits in the bricks. The only other colours in use will be a light-ish grey render on the portico, light grey under the eaves, and an almost-black driveway to match the roof. BTW the 'Melbourne' range of bricks IS an upgrade. When you go to 501, they have samples of everything that you can place against each other to see how it all looks. If you're worried about making the wrong choices with pre-conceived ideas, it will be obvious at 501 when you put the samples together. Trust them when they tell you, "Yep, that will work," or, "This would look good with that," or, "No, too many colours there." We were lucky enough to have the awesome Jacinta at 501. Re: Exterior/Facade help :) 3Mar 06, 2008 5:17 pm Thanks Eager! That is exactly the reply I was looking for!
Your bricks and tiles look great together - and I agree the blue will go perfect! Can't wait to see it all finished! I will keep an eye out for Jacinta Cheers Re: Exterior/Facade help :) 4Mar 06, 2008 5:23 pm Haywgl, I like the colours they have on there site for the Laguna – Modern Façade.
You don’t like them? I think it looks good. Modern and not what everyone else is doing at the moment. Which appeals to me. I can reproduce that look for if you like, with my Dulux colours. But no, she was great. Maybe they might allow you to ask for her specifically. Re: Exterior/Facade help :) 6Mar 06, 2008 6:56 pm Michelle - i like those colours too - i thought they wouldn't really be available - the purple garage door for instance...
That would be great if you could tell me the colours - do you think the look would be ok with white windows?? Thanks Michelle Eager - I might put in a request for her, even though I am not a 'country person' Re: Exterior/Facade help :) 7Mar 06, 2008 7:47 pm Quote: I can reproduce that look for if you like, with my Dulux colours. Mish, M uses Bristol. Belinda, you can go to Austral and ask for a list of houses where they used the bricks that you like. We also liked the Newport before, but decided to go for the darker Hawthorn (as it looks great with an off-white mortar and timber doors/windows). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3259 Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size. My custom builder standard is 350mm with rendering, but i asked for 470mm plus stone or tiles and yet to get… 0 7496 traditional gable roof facade - Have you did the dark and light gray color combination in facade with gray stone in facade… 0 4211 |
