Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 13, 2012 12:19 am We have started to build again after the nightmare of the Cosmo collapse... but first a short history... we purchased our vacant land at Plumpton where most of the lots were old subdivisions of 1/4 acre lots, a steep learning curve for us as we decided to subdivide the lot (std battle axe divide) we learned a few things about services, regs, land titles, sections, aboriginal groups, flora & fauna, water, sewer, stormwater....and the list goes on..at the end we had 2 lots, sold one and kept one to build on!! there are only a few houses on this street as council has just put in a new road. We originally went with cosmo as we liked the layout and design way back in 2007...but due to the length of time of the subdivsion..we only finalised in 2010..after many visits to cosmo and many frustrating comms with them to get the layout right we signed on so as it goes... 1) Slab and Frame went down and up quite quickly in Oct 2011 2) Cosmo went down even quicker..Nov 2011 3) QBE took forever to settle our claim 4) Zen takes over in April 2012 Potupay Build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55730 DA:09/12/10 CC:7/10/11 Slab:17/10/11 Frames:27/10/11 Zen starts:10/4/12 Bricks/Windows:1/5/12 Roof:29/5/12 Gyprock:24/7/12 Re: Potupay Build-We begin again with Zen 2Apr 13, 2012 8:24 am So excited to see this build take shape potupay! After such a crappy start you deserve the rest of the build to go off without a hitch The plans look fantastic, I remember looking at one of cosmo displays and loved the big void. The zen boys love voids, so they will enjoy building this for you Good luck Re: Potupay Build-We begin again with Zen 3Apr 13, 2012 9:59 am Wow ... what a start ... look forward to things picking up for you now you are in the Zen zone!! Can't wait to see some progress For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Potupay Build-We begin again with Zen 4Apr 13, 2012 10:23 am Well done on living through it..and now finally realising your dream, all the best Re: Potupay Build-We begin again with Zen 5Apr 13, 2012 10:41 am yay - you have your own thread!!! Welcome again to Zen. You definitely deserve a good run now after what you have been through... If nothing else the experience might make your more relaxed about small hitches (we had a nightmare with demo which I think has made us a little more relaxed... maybe?!?! ask my DH!! ). Love your plans!! Especially the verandah. Can I ask - why all those split steps in the slab? Caught you on the Zen thread - we nearly went with Zen when we were looking for a new builder following the collapse of Westminster. It was a close call, but we chose Hotondo in the end who have also been fantastic so far. You are in very good hands with Zen by all accounts! I look forward to following your progress and I'm sure you'll be all caught up in no time at all! BTW - fantastic facade and verandah and that void is just gorgeous! Thanks T...the split steps we liked when we visited the display, it felt like a split level style and when coming in from the front entrance it opens out into the void then in the living area's..althought the display had extra steps we opted for single steps only..same effect but not too high as we went for the smaller version of the house... Forecast is good, so here's hoping you get good progress. And I hope you get my brickies when you are ready - they are doing their first job for Zen on my place and they are excellent! Now I get it with those small split steps. Nice. I also like split level designs. My DH doesn't, but I wish we had one in our living to take the room closer to our outdoors. Long story. So what is the first job to be done on your place? I hope so bricks didn't arrive on Friday but A said Monday so just hopeful weather will hold up so we can get some bricks around the frames as they have been exposed to the elements since October Love split levels too and the original design but it was desigend for a sloping block ours is as flat as a tack hence the compromise of single step ups How's yours chugging along? That was why I was so confused as I couldn't see a slope on your site! Totally understand now. Fingers crossed for you to Monday! I also hope you get our brickies (I call them the A-team, they are great, and should be done at our place in a few days). yep, heaps of pics, in fact I just posted a chronicle of photos from knock down to frames on my thread a few minutes ago.
