Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 11, 2012 9:04 pm Hi all Well, we have been browsing the site for a while now, getting ideas and lots of hints along the way We started the building process with Dechellis mid last year, and signed for the prelim paperwork in September. We finally got our contract, and signed on the 10th of March! We didn't make too many changes to the display home - we loved it as it was http://www.dechellishomes.com.au/wildorchid.pdf. We have also kept very similar colours as the wild orchid, but also incorporated the bathrooms in the McLaren. Looking forward to watching other Dechellis builds - there seems to be a few of us out there at the moment Orchid ORCHID Final selections meeting: 20 April 2012 Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 2Apr 11, 2012 11:38 pm Welcome Orchid - Great to have another Dechellis thread to follow. There seems to be heaps on here now!! The Wild Orchid is a very popular design. Are you getting the 'as displayed' 'grande' or 'home maker' specification or a combo of all? Do you know why it took a fairly long time to get from the prelim paperwork stage to the signed contract? Where are you building? Looking forward to following your build Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 3Apr 12, 2012 12:21 pm Monaco Build Looking forward to following your build Me too For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 4Apr 15, 2012 9:40 pm Hi Monaco build When we started the building process with Dechellis, we started with the Homemaker specs, but as we have gone along, we are close to the "as displayed". I think that there is only about two things on the grande specs that we didn't choose, and we spent about $10K at apbc on upgrades as well......... Not sure if this was the best way to go about it tho???? The prelim paperwork to the signed contract time took forever We actually signed the last lot of drawings on the 2nd of December, but didn't receive our contract price until early March. D were closed for a few weeks over Christmas, but it was a very very long wait. Not sure if this is normal, or if they were really really busy. We are doing a knock down and rebuild in the western suburbs. We get the keys to the rental property this week, so we can move out, and demolishing can begin Good luck with the price for your footings! FYI, ours came back at the same price that was quoted. Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 10Apr 20, 2012 11:29 am Monaco Build ....are you finding it difficult to keep track of everything you have changed and selected or do you have some way of recording everything? I had an enormous A3 spreadsheet which listed each room as well as the exterior and I added all the changes/extras plus the cost so that I had a final budget figure to work on ... it came in handy when checking that everything was there when we did PCI too ... even though I thought I was organised I still forgot an external powerpoint for our water tanks For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 11Apr 21, 2012 5:38 pm All went really well at selections yesterday. We had Emma and she was fantastic!! There was only one surprise - the cost to increase the size of the cornices were alot more expensive than we thought . Still think it was worth increasing though....... Re: Our Wild Orchid build with Dechellis 14Oct 07, 2012 10:44 am Hi Stage #2 Building is coming along great at the moment. Haven't really had too many headaches, and we are currently at lock up. Tiling just finished last week, the electrician was there late last week, and half of the bricks have been cleaned. DH has also just finished all of the storm water, and is now getting organised to start the paving as soon as we get hand over. Our commencement date was meant to be the 29th of May, but our property wasn't bulldozed until the middle of June, so we the build started behind time. Handover is meant to be the 29th of November, and I think we are def on track for that, if not earlier. Wish I could post some photos - haven't got any internet in our rental property, so just limited internet on my phone . I hope you build is going well! I can't wait to get our of our rental and into our home Cheers! ORCHID Final selections meeting: 20 April 2012 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17508 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23758 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23834 |
