I hope not. Wsdm has been pretty good by following up quickly and today the Sydney watertank will come and fix it. Fingers crossed when I'm home today, it will work! Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 862Dec 13, 2012 4:49 pm hi Willcres, Not sure I understand You had Dept Fair trading to inspect water tank?? Cause Wisdom wouldn't do anything about it?? Is that correct? What would that have to do with the recycled water meter?? Did you put in a formal complaint about Wisdom for DOFT to come and do a site visit Years ago when we built we had DOFT come to mediate between us the builder but that was after a formal complaint was written, I dint know they would come and inspect a tank that wasnt working willcres Another update, finally the Fair Trading & plumber showed up on Tuesday, and Fair Trading found out that our rainwater tap didn't work, so he checked that our underground tank doesn't work, we got plenty of water inside but the pump just doesn't work. i don't know if this will affect his report for us getting recycle water meter. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 863Dec 13, 2012 8:37 pm Yeah, I don't know, this fair trading guy came before when Wsdm dug the soil & placed the big tank in the ground, now he came again to inspect it, inspect the taps in all our water inside & outside the house. Apparently in order to get our recycle water meter, they had to come along with Wisdom plumber & check everything. I didn't put a formal complaint yet, gogo... cause they responded quickly. What about your recycle meter? Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 865Jan 11, 2013 10:35 pm Are you sure it was DOFT that came? Like Gogo said, that does seem a little odd. We had someone external come check our pipes, I wasn't here at the time but DH said it it was Sydney Water I think. This was way back early on when drainage pipes were laid. This was way back early on when drainage pipes were laid. Hi T, Happy new year! Yes it was DOFT, I was there the whole time. His car also with DOFT sign. He wore DOFT badge I think. He didn't talk much even went to my house just like that & checked everything, all the taps, water etc. then he checked outside taps, underground tank & he said our tank need to be fixed, the taps didn't work at all. Then few days later we got letter from DOFT that Wsdm has until 10 Jan to fix my underground tank, but they are closed until 14 Jan.. So I'll see next week. In the meantime, our 3 months maintenance will due next week, so it'll be interesting cause we have a long list for them to fix. Wow, that went quick. How's the house going? Hi Onewheel, Sorry for the late reply. Been busy with landscaping quotes & organising my Easter holiday. Yes, it's already 3 months.. It went just like that... We love the house, the insulation work really well, when it was 45 degree yesterday, our house was 32. We didn't turn the AC at all & still manageable. But we have quite long maintenance list for Wsdom, hope they will contact me to fix it soon. Mostly to patch up & paint, noisy garage door, doors too close to the carpet, door hinges are not properly attached, etc. I notice some optical haze at study room & front foyer, so we'll see how they respond. Your house is looking great! So fast.. Awesome! Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 869Jan 20, 2013 9:14 am Do you mean optical haze on the tiles? There are threads on this. I think you will find not much you can do about that, reflected in the price (or should be, for cheaper tiles). What sort of garage door noise? our outdoor s noisy too but I thought all doors are noisy, just the fact of metal electric garage doors. But if I open the doors, you can't see it. It's just annoying because from far, it looks dirty all the time ... I'll try to take photo to show you. The garage door was noisy before, then they fixed it, but after that , now it's even noisier, like it hitting another metal when it goes up then sound smooth again. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 871Jan 20, 2013 10:25 pm Interesting. We haven't had a colourbond automatic garage door before, so I actually don't know how they are supposed to sound, whether ours is normal or not. Ours is certainly very noisy but we haven't got any rooms above it so not too troubled. Good luck with your list. With regard to the noisy auto garage doors, may I ask whether you had insulation installed in the garage, i.e. internal & external walls and secondly in between floors? We have just asked for this to be done for that reason, however if you both have it everywhere, may be a futile additional cost (which wasn't exactly peanuts). Cheers, OFH Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 874Jan 25, 2013 3:44 pm our forever home Hello Willcres & Sunshine T, I have loved following both your threads and even after completion everyone is sharing such valuable information on issues that never come to mind before or even during the build. Cheers, OFH Hi OFH - our garage doesn't have any rooms above it like most second storey homes, so we don't have the roof insulation issue. We do have one connecting wall (between garage, bathroom, ensuite and WIR) which is insulated. When the doors between garage and bathroom are closed, we can barely hear the sound of the garage door, but when in the garage it makes an all mighty sound. As I mentioned above, I haven't actually heard one before (can't think why now, maybe I just never stood in friends' garages!). When the opportunity arises I will see if I can listen to someone elses'. My mother has one though and she did say ours sounds the same as hers, so I figured they are all just very noisy. We have just asked for this to be done for that reason, however if you both have it everywhere, may be a futile additional cost (which wasn't exactly peanuts). Cheers, OFH Hi OFH, Thank you for following my journey... In regards to your question, we did have colorbond garage door before. It depends on the motor brand, the one we had previously was the motor that is noisy. The one we have now is a lot smoother. We can't hear the motor sound if we are inside the house. The noisy sound I have now is not from the motor but from the steel that hold the door when it's going up. It sounds like the steel is not properly installed/ balance, so it hits something really loud...then smooth again. We have insulation in one side of the wall because it's next to foyer. But the other walls are just bricks. We don't have insulation between floirs, I wish I add it. Hhmm maybe next time...:p Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 876Feb 12, 2013 9:12 pm Today we've been visited by the 3 months maintenance guy from W. He's very thorough and helpful so far. Our lists are written, photographed and will be typed once he's in the office. So far, nothing really major. Most problem are loose doors screw, paints patch up, door handle tighten. The garage door unfortunately didn't make much noise when we tested today, not sure because of the weather maybe, it's been cold since yesterday. But few hours after he left, it make noisy sound again...uuurgghh.. For those of you who is going to have polished porcelain, you will be charged $500 to clean, apparently this should be like a polished machine. We didn't get it. I'm a bit upset because our SS (who left the company) has told lie. When I asked him about the $500 tiles cleaning, he said it was the black plastic that cover the whole floor.... Lucky that maintenance guy told me today and he said if Di lorenzo didn't send that machine, they will have to do it. Well, not too keen if we have to move around the furniture.... But it has to happened since we have paid $500 I guess and this might help with our optical haze complaint. Meanwhile our landscaping has started and looks like it will finish in 4-5 weeks time. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 877Feb 13, 2013 6:58 am Good to hear nothing major to fix. How frustrating the garage door didn't make the noise when he was there. Hope the tiles cleaning fixes your optical haze. They must be able to fix it, none of the display homes seem to have it. Are you getting a landscaper to do your gardens. Would love to see pics when they are done We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Luckily the haze is not that much, mostly in the study room and front foyer. But still, they need to polish the floor for the $500 we paid. Most display homes don't use the shiny polished porcelain, they use matt one. The matt tiles don't have optical haze. Yes, I can't wait myself to see our garden finish.
