Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 11, 2012 9:28 am Hi all, Juts a nooby question... How much would I expect to pay to have procelain tiles supplied and laid? Just plain coloured porcelain tiles like white/creamish? I am building a 42 square house and downstair is probably 22 - 25 sq where the procelain is required. Thank you. Re: Porcelain Tile Cost 2Apr 11, 2012 3:01 pm We had approx 120m2 of 600x600 porcelain tiles. From memory we paid around $45 per metre for tiles and the same again for laying (included labour and materials - cement, grout, silicon to skirting). Going through builder would have been at least double that for tiles and labour. If you are laying to new concrete floors you may need to allow for concrete levelling which could add another $600 to $1,000 depending on what's needed. Re: Porcelain Tile Cost 3Apr 11, 2012 3:14 pm Yep around $80-$100sqm depending on tiles, average laying cost in Sydney is $50-$60sqm but towards the upper end for large 600x600 tiles plus tile cost of anywhere from $30sqm up( can get cheaper but depends on quality!) Re: Porcelain Tile Cost 4Apr 11, 2012 3:47 pm I've noticed that some tiles are more expensive than the others. Can people tell the difference between $49/m2 and $149/m2 porcelain tiles. My understanding that chapter tiles come from China and more expensive from Italy. However, where is the guarantee that they are actually delivered from Italy and not from Thailand or China? I appreciate the quality and would gladly pay more but how can I make sure that they are genuine and come from Italy? I've also heard that Italian tiles don't suffer from optical haze. How true is that? Re: Porcelain Tile Cost 5Apr 11, 2012 8:43 pm We ordered 600x660 light porcelain tiles during last months sale from b/monts, they were just under $20sqm and compare to the more expensive one I couldn't tell the difference, I was also told there wasn't any difference in quality? still had highest wear rating etc. My mum is using the same tiles in a few weeks so will see how they turn out for her house and her tiler is charging usual price to lay as all tiles and she just has to pay for materials for laying/levelling etc, I think the price some tilers charge is over the top! Porcelain Tile Cost 6Apr 12, 2012 12:02 am We got 110m2 600x600 porcelain tiles at beaumonts sale for $30 m (were $60) all up including the nano scrub and sealers and laid is $11,000 I think.
