Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 10, 2012 11:11 pm Hi there, I am new to this forum, so hello to everyone first My partner and I are building our first home, we are currently up to lock up stage, however, over the easter break, plastering has been done. We are very excited about this and went to inspect it this afternoon. We are a bit concerned with the gaps we are seeing between the top of the wall and the roof plaster. I was expecting the roof plaster and wall plaster to meet in the corner, or be very close, but with our plastering there is a one inch gap between the top of the plaster and the roof plaster. Is this normal? We are wondering whether it is something that we should get on top of straight away or if this sort of gap is normal, and one the cornice is put up it will all be fine. Any feedback on this would be great! Thanks in advance Re: Gaps in Plastering 2Apr 10, 2012 11:44 pm It is normal. Cornice will go over it and tidy it up. As long as there's atleast a 10mm gap on the bottom sheet you shouldn't have to worry, the cornice will cover the top gap. If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 Brass fly wire, you will need to cut it, shape it and jam it into brick slots 1 7488 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
