Re: YET again issue with Metr!con 36Apr 16, 2012 11:06 pm Weare also experiencing issues with the supply of Austral Hawksburn. Our builder was told by Austral that the bricks would be delivered to the site by Friday last week. On Thursday he was told that there would be a 5 to 6 week delay. So basically, out house will now sit for that time until the bricks arriive. Austral advised that the reason for the hold up had to do with issues associated with their Kiln. The colours haven't been working out. Re: YET again issue with Metr!con 37Apr 17, 2012 8:05 am Our builder did the usual wait for the slab to cure for a week then ring up to order the bricks for delivery a couple of days later. Then he rang us to say there was a 6 week delay as they were not available despite having known exactly what we wanted for several months. We went to the brickyard and they told us 3 to 4 weeks. They also stated their exasperation as to why builders order at the last minute because if the builders order in advance then all they do is allocate the stock in the yard ( they don't invoice the builder at that point - that happens at the time of delivery) and then they can better manage their inventory as they know exactly what stock they need and can be more organised. My build thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=47031 Re: YET again issue with Metr!con 39Apr 18, 2012 6:48 pm What a frustrating situation! there has been some good advice on here, including speak to the brick supplier to find out what is really happening with the brick (discontinued? material availability? machinery?). Waiting for bricks doesn't seem too difficult, but if they are pushing hard on it then you have to wonder if there is another reason (did the supplier change the price to M?). Moving to a slightly upgraded brick as cmhamilton suggested sounds like a decent compromise, unless of course there is a delay on those bricks too. We had a few delays with our bricks, but no more than 2 weeks. Our builder also orders very close to the time it is needed (which makes me nervous, but then in reverse it means we can make changes much closer to the time - but we are building with a smaller builder). PGH Loam is a nice brick. (We have Austral Slate Grey and love it). The colours haven't been working out. We have been waiting for 6 weeks for Blackwood bricks from Austral. They have been delayed 4 times so far and the last time we spoke to our builder hopefully we will get them on the 27th of April. It is very depressing seeing nothing happening for so long but we chose all our colours to suit those bricks and are standing our ground even if it kills us in the end A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it...
