Browse Forums Building A New House Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 161Dec 03, 2012 8:45 pm That sounds like a good plan to me.......definately worthwhile not getting appliances in til Jan. When we moved into our current house that we built 15 years ago, appliances were installed the day we got the keys and DH slept in the house from then on, as we were worried about the appliances being stolen. We probably will do the same this time around, but have not yet thought that far ahead We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Called up the builder to let them know On that, does anyone know if the Solar Hot Water system needs Electricity to work? Sounds like everything is hooked up but was told that the Electricy part is done when appliance's are hooked up Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 164Dec 04, 2012 11:51 am With us, the circuit breaker was 'off' until their installed the system. Then they flicked it over. Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. A waffle pod slab does not go with maple syrup. Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 166Dec 05, 2012 7:09 am Move in this weekend, although already been staying there at least once a week Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. I got out there and a PVC downpipe replaced 2 weeks ago is still not painted, there was paint damage to the door I expected to be fixed at the same time. Also the mortar blowouts and cracking on window sill issues I pointed out after the brick clean and was told would be fixed still there. A please explain email to head office (can only call the SS direct on certain afternoons) last night and a follow up call from my DW Was told the SS would call us today but no call....... Also checked out my loan account and my lender has paid the final payment even though I requested it be held until after my final inspection 2 Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 168Dec 05, 2012 7:09 pm I would be furious!! How can the lender make payment??? I dont know who your lender is, from what I understand, we are with ANZ and have been given forms to fill in to send into the bank after each invoice. There is then a 24 - 48 hour turn around. I would be disappointed with SS and company too. Hope they respond soon! Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 169Dec 05, 2012 7:27 pm Thats not good .....sounds like they organised the handover without fixing those issues, maybe they thought you would overlook it and do the handover anyway. Your bank sounds overly efficient.....so where do you stand now payment has been made? Has the builder arranged another time for handover after phone calls to HO? (after said items have been fixed?) Hopefully I get a call today to say it has been painted, my wife was told yesterday he was trying to get a brickie to go across yesterday arvo that is working around the corner. Yeah the bank has been on the ball with every payment. I think it was processed due to the guy I was dealing with having his little girl in hospital with a skull fracture so he's just pushed everything through for me. I still have $1,100 of their cash because our stormwater and electricity cabling costs were a bit higher and not wiped out with a couple of credit's we received. So at least I have some cash to get them motivated to sort out the issues Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 171Dec 06, 2012 6:18 pm No call, went past today no painting or touchup to the mortar blow outs and window sills that my wife was told were going to be fixed by the brickies around the corner..... 2 Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 172Dec 06, 2012 6:29 pm Ugh, how frustrating, you're millimetres away from having your house but they are delaying it for the tiniest little thing. Hope they just get it all done tomorrow. It is not filling me with confidence the interior will be acceptable 2 Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 175Dec 06, 2012 8:31 pm Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 176Dec 07, 2012 12:35 pm Well we had our handover inspection but I doubt we will be in the house anytime soon......... A bunch of things inside we are not overly happy about but the major thing is really the Rear slider, it has been unable to lock for the whole build and is still not repaired. SS said he had been chasing Trend about it but I can't take possession of the house as my insurance company will not cover me as I am unable to secure the home correctly....... The painting stuff will be addressed on Monday and the mortar issues have been marked to be fixed this afternoon Felt sick on the way home and my wife has told me she doesn't even want the place after the inspection....... Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 177Dec 07, 2012 3:26 pm Building can be really stressful. I am sure your wife was just feeling the disappointment of things not being perfect at the handover. Allworth sound like they have been on top of things and I am sure these things will get sorted over the weekend and on Monday. Positive happy thoughts sent your way. Don't let these little things get to you. You will be in your lovely new house in no time! Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 178Dec 07, 2012 5:49 pm So disappointing Your wife must be over it by now, excited about handover but then disappointed it hasn't happened due to unfinished issues. It is this that has me worried for when we have handover. You are right to not have handover while the house cannot be secured. If it has been like that the whole build, they should have that orgainsed well before now. I hope they get their act together soon so you can take possession of your lovely new home. She has also told me she is taking charge 2 Re: dvestate's Build - Handover this week..... 180Dec 09, 2012 9:58 pm Sent that email off Saturday night, but this morning we were talking about the main bathroom. There was an issue with the spout not quite long enough to be fully over the bath. We were talking about the whole room seeming off. So off to the display today and we see the problem. The display tap is on the end of the bath, our place has it in the centre on the long side. So a please explain to the builder tomorrow. I am meant to be on leave to organise flooring installs etc but seems like I will cancel and head back to work Tuesday..... 2 0 4986 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17616 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9572 |
