I'm looking for the best door design idea for a house in the tropics. Double doors that can open completely and let in tons of light and are somewhat secure.
I have lived places with the sliding door on rollers (glass door with wood frame). I have noticed that usually end up with a big gap between the door and the wall allowing lots of mosquitoes to get in. Also the rollers tend to jam making it harder and harder to open and close. Though maybe that just depends on the quality of the rollers?
I have also had houses with the folding style double doors (really four glass panels with wood frame). They hinge in the middle then fold up to each side of the doorway. This seems like a nice idea and they close securely enough that no bugs seem to get in but in every case the weight of the door seems too much for the hinges and quickly they scrape along the floor and before long they are very difficult to open or close.
Any suggestions or ideas to improve on either of these designs?
Thanks!
