Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 05, 2012 1:24 pm Well I thought it was time to finally start our thread and Blog.
We signed off on the tender yesterday and look forward to signing the contracts in a few weeks. We were originally going to build with Carlisle and after quite a few hicups early on (and a refusal to honour our original $15,000 credit), we gave them ample chance to come back to us with "anything". The refused on all counts. During the whole process with Carlisle we had other builders wanting our business, but one that stood out way above the rest was Henley. They have been fantastic on all accounts so far, so we can only hope that they continue this way. I shall start the blog and get some pictures up asap, along with our colour selections etc If anyone else is thinking of building the Saraha Q1 and want to ask any questions to this point, please do, as I have founf this site really helpful in our quest so far. So any other henley builders out there? Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 2Apr 23, 2012 6:18 pm Hi, We are building Sahara Q2. We signed the contracts on15th April 2012. Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 3Apr 24, 2012 6:41 am we're with henley too!! so how did your tender go? i've read some posts where people were quite surprised on how the costs have skyrocketed as soon as they went on their tender. we will be having ours soon so im quite worried.. by the way, did you go for the land and house package as well? thanks. Where are you building? We are building in Melton. Howz your experience so far? congrats on your contract signing.... we were supposed to sign contracts TODAY, but there were far to many errors in the draft tender and the final drawings. I met with them today to iron out things, there were quite alot of mistakes, some of the things I have asked a few times to change and they still have not been done, which is a disappointing, as we are ready to sign NOW. The only thing I dont like so far about the process is the lack of understanding regarding electricals and some of the inclusions.... Anyway hope we can get to the bottom of it soon, i will keep you updated. Hi, no we owned our land at sandhurst already. The tender pricing most things were spot on, we are pretty happy with the costings etc... Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 7Apr 24, 2012 5:15 pm dan1978 We are looking at Henley and Carlisle. What was the $15k credit they wouldn't honour? Carlisle offered us $15,000 credit if we signed on the spot to lock in a start date, which we did, in the end we were mis-informed that we could change the promo to the new one if we prefered. which we did when it came out in jan. but then, they pulled the pin on the deal, which really P*SSED us off. so then we went back to the original promo, but thru the to'ing and fro'ing they said they could no longer confirm the start date , ie- we wouldnt make it in time, so then they said old promo, no credit.... we lost our initial 1000.00 Edited by Support Team Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 9Apr 27, 2012 8:59 pm tengals alex29 Hi, We are building Sahara Q2. Hi Yeah they dont care about the electricals. we did our electricals with our tender presenter. he was a nice guy, very helpful. Hope they get the drawings right. keep me posted. Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 12May 02, 2012 8:51 am ok so first hiccups, the revised drawings came through and although a few things are fixed, they are STILL WRONG... I cant understand these drafts people, it's not difficult to understand a coloured in elevation drawing, render here, and face brick there..... but no....they still cant get it right.... I will keep you updated, getting a little frustrated as we have now lost another week and a 5 year old kid could work out some of this simple stuff. Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 14May 06, 2012 10:00 pm Hi everyone, First time on this blog. We just agreed to build the Sahara Lux Q1 at Berwick Waters Not signed anything yet, but will pretty soon, in time for the deadline for the FHOG. The sales consultant is a guy who built for my mum-in-law about 15yrs ago and 9yrs ago, so we are in good hands. Fingers crossed. I'll let y'all know as we go along. Happy to have found the right home that resonates with me Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 15May 07, 2012 11:51 am ok, contracts arrived at our house on friday! they are all correct! just waiting for developer approval regarding our crossover re-location now.... hopefully these contracts will be signed this week... Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 16May 07, 2012 3:05 pm Few questions guys regarding the Henley. This is our first build and we are hoping to sign this week. For those of you well ahead in the process: 1. Can you advise what we should look out for? 2. Does anyone know how much extra it will cost to make my Sahara Q1 look exactly like the display? I know it will cost extras. Does anyone know the cost? 3. Henley are claiming they have included $40,000 worth of luxury inclusions in the deal. Does anyone know what these inclusions are that make up the $40,000 figure? 4. I asked my sales consultant (who is a family friend) about the $450 per week Henley will pay for the first 3years of the loan. He said, yes my build is qualified for it. Has anyone else verified this promotion and are definately getting it? Awaiting your replies with interest. Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 17May 07, 2012 3:55 pm hi there, hope to answer a few of your questions, 1. just the standard with most volume builders, check everything over and over 2. close to 150K extra 3. check the website, it shows exactly what the inclusions are 4. yes we are getting it and it is exactly as described. note not the first 3 years of the loan. its the first 3 years from settlement date Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 18May 08, 2012 11:26 pm I understand there is the Land contract and the house contract re the package. The land developer will hold 5% of the cost of the land prior to signing contract with builder. Will this 5% deposit be returned at a later stage?? Re: Building the Sahara Q1 by Henley - Our Blog 20May 11, 2012 3:56 pm The extras are really expensive. I went to the showroom today at Mt Waverley. The best extra are highly priced. I'll strongly advise anyone to be careful about upgrades, particularly on bricks and certain fixtures. Hopefully we will soon tally up the final amount and sign the contract before the FHOG deadline.
