Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 141Feb 16, 2013 9:05 am Thanks for the pm MrsRusty! Any luck on finding your dream block....it's pretty slim pickings at the moment isn't it, and anything decent gets snapped up straight away. We were originally really keen and a light metallic silvery grey for the splashbacks but have started thinking that too much grey might be a bit of over kill.....it's so hard to know what will look good.....especially when choosing things from tiny samples! We have had the tilers in all week this week. They have done the floor tiles in both bathrooms, powder room and laundry and the wall tiles in the ensuite and half of the main bathroom. Here are some pics of the floor tiles - Ensuite floor tiles Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite shower floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just some of the tiles Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen cupboards looking towards the from door Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hallway linen cupboards Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Laundry floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are the splashback colours we r looking at. The left is a greenish blue tinge on normal glass and on the right is white metallic on superclear glass.....hmmmm tough decisions ahead Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 142Feb 18, 2013 2:53 pm Looking great Monaco bet you cant wait to be in!!! Keep the pics coming Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 143Feb 18, 2013 3:57 pm No dream block found (well in our price range ) will keep on looking. Your house is looking lovely, is your ensuite like the Frome show home? With the splash back is that the white on natural green on glass? We have that it is nice, but it is darker than what I expected. We actually have that green colour in our kitchen, here it is.. http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee3/mychichi06/Kitchen%20new/IMG_2275_r-1.jpg I guess if you want to bring in a different colour go with white on natural green if not go with the silver. Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 144Feb 18, 2013 4:46 pm Hi mrsrusty, We had the same trouble finding a block in our price range while we were looking as well. Everything in our range was either too small or really sloped or not in an area we were keen on. Don't give up though, something will come up! The ensuite in our house is exactly the same as the Monaco display home,we didn't want to mess with the design and layout that we knew looked good. Do you have a style or plan in mind for when you build your place? In regards to the greenish splashback it's the glass that gives it the green colour rather than the paint itself. They paint is basically white but that type of glass has a green tinge. Your kitchen looks awesome,I like the look of the white cupboards and benches with the pop of colour in the splashback. Do you think you would have something similar in the next house or go for something totally different? Thanks for the kind words plumbergasfitter, we are getting really excited to move in!! Hopefully not too long now,we don't really have a set finish date but we know if will be before the 25th of April. The sooner the better!! Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 145Feb 26, 2013 9:45 pm It's coming along now, painters have been in and are half way through. Not sure if we are too excited about the wall colour but it's growing on us and will hopefully be better when it's finished properly. The plumbing has been started today - sinks, taps etc. Of course we keep missing the tradies so haven't been in to take photos....just a photo from the front of the house. The render looks pretty brown in the photo but they bricks and render are more grey in real life Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 147Feb 27, 2013 5:02 am house is great . we have tiles coming this week but no kitchen etc and we are looking at 20 may handover Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 149Mar 07, 2013 8:21 pm Thanks 1rocky and MrsRusty, we got news about our handover date today! Last week they told us it was still 6 weeks away which made it the 9th of April, our original handover date was the 25th of April but the date they gave us today is the 27th of March!!! Excited!! Our pre inspection is the week before that, so only 2 weeks from now I have to admit we are pretty keen to get in there. We have to organize the tiler and carpets now that we have a date so I hope we can get someone to do them pretty much straight away. Today the painters were back and the guys finishing the cornices were there too so there doesn't seem like too much left to be done apart from the smaller bits and pieces. What happening with everyone else, it doesn't seem like there have been many updates from the other Dechellis people lately? Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 150Mar 07, 2013 11:44 pm Monaco Build What happening with everyone else, it doesn't seem like there have been many updates from the other Dechellis people lately? Good to hear that you have got a date. Hope you can get your floors organised soon. We were in that same boat; getting all the other bits done so you can move in. So....we have finally moved in weekend just gone - had floors done, skirts re-layed, sanded & painted. Been busy putting together heaps of flat-pack furniture, hanging lights, and packing up & moving in. Still waiting on concrete drive and paths - but that's another story. Hanging to get this place cleaned up so I can put some pretty pics up on my thread Good luck with PCI & handover (Hint: take lots of time & look at everything!!) Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 151Mar 08, 2013 11:25 am Thanks Ding, we are hoping our handover goes smoothly as we haven't spotted too many issues just yet but we will be getting the magnifying glass out for the pre inspection! Haha I just had a look at your thread and I have to say your place is looking fantastic!!! How awesome is the pop up power point (and the kitchen aid and the Christmas cake too)! We're you getting stressed out with all of the muck around during handover? I can't wait to see the pics of your place all shiny and new with your fancy furniture in it too what's happening with your driveway and paths? We are in the process of looking at options the moment and would love to hear if you have any recommendations. Have you been quoted a sq m price for the exposed aggrigate (if you don't mind me asking)? I can't wait to put up some more pics, seeing your lovely place just makes me want to hurry up handover even more! Re: Building the Monaco by Dechellis 153Mar 15, 2013 2:10 pm Hi Monaco - you will need your magnifying glass ... we just discovered (after living here for almost 18 months) that the downlights in the two hall niches are not centred - it was so embarrassing, a friend noticed it. We had nothing in them for ages so didn't notice ... it's the little things that niggle isn't it? Good luck with your PCI - hope you have an inspector. Ours found over 90 faults .... and we all still missed loads of things.
