When we were in the Aldinga office there were a few sample tiles there and they looked really nice. They were well priced too (I think $100/sq m laid)....that is for the very large 600 x 600 "rectified" tile.[quote] Can I just ask - the 600 x 600 "rectified" tile - is that the same one that is in the McLaren display home at Aldinga? So excited for you Amanda - once the building starts you will need to keep an eye on them - we are still finding cr@p work 12 months later unfortunately. For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! We're lucky that our family take the time out to keep us updated on the progress. I wish we were notified when progress work was done, this was purely by chance that my dad went past the block and discovered the frame was up!!! Wow, still surreal!!! Enjoy the photos - I know Dechellis people love photos hahaha! (As we all do!) Amanda Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 67Oct 22, 2012 9:50 am Woo hooo! Hi Southbank! I am sure the invoice will not be far away! It is difficult at times as we can't just check in and see how thing are going... But on that, my parents called past today...... And bricks were delivered! We also have windows and sliding doors on. Our septic system is installed too. All in one invoice - it's going to be a big one, considering the work they've done. Seems like it's going up quickly, considering that all this work has been done since 2nd October?!?! What does everyone think with their experiences?? Photos to follow or course.... Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 71Nov 02, 2012 7:15 pm We have bricks on site! Apparently delivered week ago... Windows have been put on and the sliding door! Very ecxcited about heading down and visiting the block next week!! Who knows there may be some bricks up! First invoice received yesterday too... Starting to feel real now!!! Photos soon Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 72Nov 03, 2012 9:58 am It's all going really quickly Amanda, are you happy with the progress so far? We are just a touch behind you guys - our bricks were delivered last week but the frame is not quite finished. It should be completed on Monday we hope we have already received our first invoice and the frame is not even done yet, I'm sure the 2nd one isn't too far off either!!! Have you had much contact with your site supervisor? Has he given you much of a timeline? You will get a massive shock when you get to see it-it's pretty amazing to see your house come together in real life, keep us posted with piccies if you get the chance Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 73Nov 07, 2012 8:59 pm Hi Everyone! As promised - photos! Visit to the block today and there were brickies on site (obviously - haha) and the roof tradie! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thay said they'll be finished about Monday (12/11), Tuesday latest. We saw roof iron delivered, as you can see in the pics, so presuming the roof tradie will be finished next week sometime too?!?!? Whoa, slow down..... Hahahahahaha!!! I'm tipping though, that it may well be at lock up before Christmas, then tools down over the break. I'm reading in the other Dechellis threads there is a slow part to the build, so I'm guessing that will come after this stage. We were walking around today, imagining everything, the space we have left to plan gardens etc. It's all so so exciting!! Wow, yes, we got our first invoice, after the slab and frame, interresting how everyone's build is slightly different with invoicing? No, we haven't had any contact with SS. Not sure if we should be or not?? Eeek! I definitely will be uploading pics, it helped us reading about others experiences and getting our head around it all, so must give back! It is just surreal... Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 75Nov 08, 2012 6:55 pm That was a nice surprise for you Those brickies sure move fast! Haha... The bank gave us the run around with payment of our first invoice - we dropped everthing as we were supposed to, but there was some sort of communication error and it has not been paid as yet... Have been stressing a bit about that with the fees associated with late payment, but the bank and builder has assured us there will be no repercussions. I'll keep my eyes peeled for next lot of paperwork just in case there is an added fee... This is where there is about 900 odd sm of land left, which will eventually be gardens and lawn area, plus a shed in the rear corner. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ When we saw the brickies, they said they will sandblast the bricks. Does this look like it has been done? Reason I ask, is from the photos, it almost looks like there's a 'dirty' look about them? I have no idea about bricks and the trade, what does everyone think? Maybe they are still yet to do it... Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis - gyprocking! 79Nov 28, 2012 3:10 pm Hi there, Just thought I'd update for those following: Gyprocking has been finished. Busy tradies! When we visited our block, at about 6 pm last night, tradies were still there working on the gyprocking as they were supposed to have been finished already as the next tradies - second fix carpentry - were meant to have been started! Apparently they had been at our block from 6 am! The work they have done looks great...
