Hi
Can anyone tell me about what is required (or not required) for an Occupancy Certificate in NSW? I understand for an Interim Occupancy Certificate there are certain things that are OK not to complete and then you are issued with an Interim certificate until the house is ready for a full Occupancy Certificate.
Specifically with lights, our basix requirements are for CFL or LED lights in pretty much all rooms. For some rooms we will have numerous bayonet points with the plan to do downlights after we move in. I have heard that you can just put a CFL or LED globe in one of these bayonet points as, as far as the certificate goes, you have complied with the room being lit by CFL or LED light, even if there are still 10 bayonet points without lights in them.
We will probably go ahead and put CFL or LED lights in them eventually but some lights/ceiling fans etc can wait a little while due to budget (of course that is if we can still get the occupancy certificate).
Also, my dad is a retired electrician so can put alot of the lights in for us. Do I need to get them done by a 'current practicing' electrician so that a certificate or something can be provided to the PCA?
