Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 03, 2012 12:23 am Hi there! My hubby and I are just starting to build our home . We're building with The Right Build. They are custom builders. Since we already had a DA approval for our land since 2004, we're going with that plan otherwise we lose out on a bigger house - therefore custom builders. But they have been beautiful and very well priced so cannot complain Anyway, we just went and did our colour selections today - external, internal. Also did the kitchen and bathroom fittings - literally everything!! So just would like to get anyone's opinion on our choices. For our externals: Roof selection is Bristile Roofing: Classic Coal http://www.bristileroofing.com/Site_Assets/Files/e9/e9fb0d29-e0e8-42ba-83a5-5813019cbee3.jpg Gutters - Colorbond Monument Fascia - Colorbond Paperbark Eaves - Taubman's Secret White Downpipes - Colorbond Paperbark Garage - Steel Line Sectional Overhead doors in SurfMist colour. (i did want the timber ones but we are already way out of budget!! so this will do - i think it will still look nice) Walls are rendered with Taubman's Paperbark and (we were trying to get another distinctive colour that is not too striking) Bears foot - around the garage door. Windows are glossy pearl white from stegbar. Doors are stained dark brown corinthian doors INF8G (i think) We've made the driveway concrete black.. real black.. im not too sure how that will look but im thinking nice? now because our plan was done ages ago and we are not allowed to change the exteriors without having to go through council (which we are not doing because it will take forever) it has an old style look to it. I do not have a scanned copy of our fully rendered front elevation but the older one where it was half rendered.. just rendered everything. I also do not know how to put up elevations here.. so need help! sorry!! im a nOOB! Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 5Apr 03, 2012 8:28 am Hi samuraibus. Congratulations on about to embark on the building journey. If you have read any of the threads on here, you will know it is a roller coaster. But all worth it in the end. We were also looking at Bears Foot for our external Moroka (and I haven't seen anyone else choose this colour, out of the zillions of colours on the palate!) so your post caught my attention. We changed our mind slightly after we tried the samples. Here are some pics I took last year when trying out those paint options (scroll down my thread): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585&p=595151&hilit=Bearsfoot#p595151 We also spoke to Right Build but they didn't build in our area. I look forward to following your build! ps: When do you plan to start? I look forward to following your build! ps: When do you plan to start? HAHA which is why I made this thread because I really do not know what to expect, what to look for and what to ask haha.. I was suprised too that no one picked these colours before. Such soothing colours. I guess though Bears Foot goes with our paperbark? Whereabouts did you want to build with Right Build? They are very reasonably priced eh? We just did our colour selections yesterday as I mentioned, we're just getting priced on roof tiles from the prestige range. If that comes up as too expensive then we are not going to go for it, and we have mentioned that already. After we have signed on these colours they are ready to start - so say next 2 weeks? Then we go about doing our interior tiling selection and kitchens. We have already done the interior selection yesterday (wall colours, doors, handles, bathroom fittings, etc) just not the kitchen yet. It did not take us too much time - we sorta knew what we wanted already Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 8Apr 03, 2012 1:53 pm Nayzv hi samuraibus, we are having surfmist garage door and black concrete driveway. I think you external colors are going to look great! when do you start building? I cant wait to see your colors come together. Hi Nayzv. Have you completed your home yet? It would be awesome to see what it would look like with the surfmist and black concrete. I'm so jealous! Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 9Apr 04, 2012 5:28 pm samuraibus Nayzv hi samuraibus, we are having surfmist garage door and black concrete driveway. Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 10May 15, 2012 1:50 am Building has not commenced yet.. I'm not sure what our builder is waiting for. They keep mentioning that they will get it started "next week...next week.. next week" so maybe you guys would have to wait around a little while until my house is actually built.. Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 11Jun 13, 2012 11:52 am HI Samuraibus, We are building with the right build homes at Kellyville. You might want to contact me. We have been building with them for close to 2 years and we do not have walls yet. Email me. Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 12Aug 27, 2012 12:54 am samuraibus - Finally found another current Right Build Builder. How are things going with your build? No doubt you have noticed significant delays. Not sure if you have been doing your homework but we have and if you don't already know, they are are about to go bankrupt so my advise would be to not hand over any more progress payments! Samurabis or anyone else who is building or has been building with them, I woudl love to hear from you. I am only new to this site but hoping you are able to send private messages. Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 16Sep 04, 2012 1:10 pm DGBREK An update onThe Right Build Homes..... As of today they have officially gone into liquidation Hi DGBREK, we paid our deposit early last year and our land was only registered 3 months ago, but now no one is returning my calls or emails so what you are saying makes sense, although when I called fair trading this morning, they said everything still looked above board with them and to make a complaint through their website which I have now done. I hope we haven't lost all our money...! Re: Building a new home for the first time!! 17Sep 04, 2012 4:14 pm sorry to hear this news Westminster, Cosmo and now Right Build. The building industry is a little shakey it seems? We got our keys last Friday which was a huge relief, as all these kinds of stories makes anyone (well, at least me) building nervous. I totally know how you feel. I stopped reading the Cosmo and Westminster links after a while. Very very important to find a solid builder. Which is often very hard to know at the beginning. Who would have thought those bigger companies would go down. Our builder is small, with less overheads, so I wonder if sometimes it is the smaller builders that are better protected? Who knows. In our case, as they did not apply for the insurance on our behalf when we paid our deposit, we are at the end of what I am told to be a very long queue of creditors. I was also told that the director cannot be located, so its not really looking good for anyone. Thanks NativeZen! I can't wait to start landscaping, though it's going to be a while away yet. No movement on site yet as of the weekend. Hoping to see some earthworks… 3 2148 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 4944 I’m curious about how you went with this. We are planning a KDRB and considering Plantation Homes as a builder. I’m aware that after the demolition another soil test… 1 6309 |
