Re: Building the Santorini MK 2 by Masterton Homes 122Jun 23, 2014 8:37 am First Gyprock went up on March, keys mid June and we first slept in the house in August. By then we had everything done, including landscaping and driveway. Masterton and Ark Finishing Touches 123Jun 24, 2014 11:45 am I've just moved into our new home which we are really happy with. The only piece of advice I would like to put out there is be careful about some of the companies you may be introduced to by Masterton. When I was at a selection appointment doing tiles, air on, Masterton had also made an appointment for me to meet with Ark finishing touches. They quoted us for plantation shutters and fly screens. We decided to wait abit before making a decision re ordering them. When we were ready to order it was too late to include the order as part of out Masterton order/tender which wasn't a problem for us we just paid them directly. Since the work has been carried out we have had a fair few problems both with the company - I was even called a stuck up b****, by them when they thought I was on hold after having to call them several times to follow up on them fixing a faulty shutter!!!! I have to say based on my experiences I would not recommend ARK FINISHING TOUCHES even when I told Masterton what has been going on they said it wasn't anything to do with them as I had gone direct to them. Thanks for that Masterton. I guess so many of these firms are getting plenty of work via companies like Masterton the delivery of Customer satisfaction is not high on their list. Re: Building the Santorini MK 2 by Masterton Homes 124Jun 24, 2014 11:57 am Anything that we could do after hand-over, we did not get M to do, as this allowed us to get multiple quotes and find the best supplier. With our shutters, we had 4 quotes and we chose the middle priced one, and we are very happy with it. They even came few weeks after installers, to make sure it's all ok. Not backing M, but you cannot hold M responsible for other third-party bad business management or workers. Informing M simply places them on a list of complaints, and when that list gets big, they are out. Re: Building the Santorini MK 2 by Masterton Homes 125Nov 08, 2014 8:38 pm Vatche A quick look at the plans and it all looks good! Only very few minor changes, mostly outside taps location, manhole location etc. Will go in detail over the weekend. One major issue is the front setback, it is 10m! I was expecting 7m, like where the current house is and like our next door neighbour. I will need to chase it up. As it is dawn now, I have more front yard then back yard! lol. Hi Vatche, Love your thread and blog! So much useful information, specially the checklist. We noticed your blog because we have a similar frontage issue as you. Our house's current frontage is 7.5 metre. One neighbour is 7 metre and the other one has a silly 11.2m frontage due to a 4m porch. According to CDC, we will have 9.4 metre front setback while our land is only 30 metres long. How did you convince CDC to reduce the frontage? We would love to know! P.S. Our council (Ryde) is requiring 6 meter frontage only. Many many thanks in advance! Probably 2 years too late, but you can get the CDC to average out the street frontage of all the houses, or 5 on each side, not just your next door neighbours, to see if that makes it any better. 4 16736 Ask for references and speak to them.
