So they will have me up nice and early in the morning and we will go out there before the ANZAC day parade we have here in town...... the kids are marching with their school PHOTOS!!!!!! ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 628Apr 25, 2012 8:22 am Seems the microwave could go in the corner between sink and stove - which wall depends on how the m'wave door swings. Put it above the bench - maybe not as high as the cupboards - don't hit your head on it tho. You can afford to miss out on overhead cupboard with that big pantry. Small detail - that store room door could even swing inwards seeing there's a blank wall behind it. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 629Apr 25, 2012 8:39 am Well it depends now on if I have a stand along gas 900mm oven/cooktop beauty...... or if I have a double oven on the wall with the microwave built in with a built in panel.....??? Man I am looking though some kitchen magazines at the moment and the KITCHENS!!!!! Oh my goodness!!! And on the storeroom..... it depends on how much junk I want to stuff in that cupboard doesn't it!!!!! I can't store as much with an inward facing door???? ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 630Apr 25, 2012 8:43 am I would go opening out, like a cupboard would be. means you can store right up to the very edge of the door handle... or throw some crap out. you prob wont be opening it daily. so doesnt matter if it opens out, the linen you will open more. you can also then hang something on that wall where the door would bang into if it opened inwards like hooks, and have coats, or whatever ....? more usable wall space...yay. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 631Apr 25, 2012 9:20 am You must all think I am a serious hoarder with all the cupboards and storage!!!!! I am here to assure you....... I am completely "normal" and I have the "normal" amount of crap!!!!!! Yes I am sure there will be only the "good stuff" being moved into this house!!!! Crap will be tossed!!!!!! ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 632Apr 25, 2012 9:27 am ha ha, and dont forget to sound proof your bedroom.... I like how you have come around to my plan... bathroom and loo together, and a small store room.. plus the walk in linen and a wardrobe that 2 can get dressed in, cos if it is too small and 2 people are in there, one of them will be stabbed and it wont be me. just thought I would toot my trumpet................. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 633Apr 25, 2012 10:00 am We have a biggish WIR. . . big enough to get dressed in AND to store clothes in. . . Phil's clothes normally end up on a chair on his side of the bed (hence his side of the bed is on the window side, not the door side. . . need to keep the thoroughfare free. You have the dressing room. . . he gets a chair by the side of his bed. . . SCORE! Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 634Apr 25, 2012 10:14 am Oh planfan. . . we have the kitchen design to look forward to. . .HURRAH! That's lots of fun! There's not much room for overhead cupboards anyway. . . Okjorg loves DRAWERS DRAWERS DRAWERS! You won't throw out the crap. . . you'll take it all with you cos you don't have time to throw it out before you move in. . . then you'll leave it all in unopened boxes for years before you have a BIG CLEANOUT. . . and you'll still keep most of it! HAHAHA (Not that that's what we did, of course). Actually, I just dropped a ute-load of stuff off at the op shop last weekend! Good to finally get rid. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 635Apr 25, 2012 10:22 am stored in boxes in the garage AND in the store room..in the garage, cos the store room is full! i am sure okjorg is not a hoarder and biffs everything not used within the last 6 mths. just like all of us...................... Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 637Apr 25, 2012 10:32 am We brought all our stuff and have been tossing out lots - we had no room to sort stuff before. And still had boxes unpacked from the previous move. Kids are 30+ - maybe I should throw out those kinder paintings..... Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 640Apr 25, 2012 10:39 am Hahaha! My old boyfriend lived at home still with his mum and dad. . . loser. . . his mother was the queen of clean! Once, we were sat there over dinner and she told him that he had to go through the plastic boxes of stuff under his bed and have a clearout because it was bugging her. . . HAHAHAHAHA! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2249 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 4420 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 5012 |
