Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 341Apr 17, 2012 12:00 pm Okay so who is Annette??? And I really like the master bedroom layout the way it is....... so yes perhaps the answer is to move the bb over to the island bench??? So long as I get to have lots of drawers either way!! I'll be happy!!! I love that we are talking little things like artwork and door placement now!!!! SO EXCITING!!! ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 342Apr 17, 2012 12:12 pm That's me!! Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 343Apr 17, 2012 12:24 pm Hello Annette aka Mclaren You are cheeky aren't you!!! Then I could have a midnight raid in the cupboard without even leaving my bedroom!!!! HA!!! I just think if I have my master bedroom doorway in the hallway...... it all starts to feel claustrophobic along there.......... I really don't mind my bedroom door being there at all....... But I must admit i didn't think about the yucky teenagers all over my bb stools!!!!! ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 344Apr 17, 2012 12:35 pm ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 345Apr 17, 2012 2:02 pm Can't wait to see it with a wider hallway!!!! Do you think it will make much difference??? I wonder what Sunshine thinks about all this new plan business???? She did like my old plan ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 346Apr 17, 2012 2:35 pm We will make her love it. We have 1200 wide halls and the house feels spacious...because of them. Crazy huh, but true. So worth the tiny room sacrifice each side of the hallways If you make the bench near bedroom wide like you have, but have your actual stools on your kitchen island, you could have drawers kitchen side, and the other side in the dining room cupboards for fancy pants dining stuff you use at Christmas. You still get teenagers....dont worry about that, but you can't hear them talking in the morning right outside your door before they go to swimming training or whatever...and no stools to impede coffee and more storage...cos where would you keep the fancy cutlery if you didn't have cupboards there.!! Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 347Apr 17, 2012 3:20 pm OMG - this thread has gone from deathly silence to a roaring orchestra!! (NO idea why I thought of that). Quickly checking in from work ( ) and my first instinct is that the plan looks fabulous! Well done Love all the north facing stuff. She loves everything we all love. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 349Apr 17, 2012 4:01 pm Yes that sounds lovely with the spacious hallways...... I certainly don't want to build something that feels stuffy and crowded.... Yep I'm liking that idea kiwi.......drawers kitchen side and cupboards on the dining side............. bb over on the island bench. I was thinking of something like this for a display cabinet for all the nice crystal and china... if we don't go the cupboards on the dining room side of the kitchen bench........ A roaring orchestra!!! I just can't imagine it. If the bedroom door was opposite the toilet door the hall wouldn't be too "busy". It would allow you to have some cupboards and shelving in the dining area which would be really useful ... and you have so many linens and stores already ... A very personal preference I guess!!!! I really don't mind the master bedroom entry where it is at the moment........ But we will see what it all looks like once Jodge gets out of the PUB and widens the hallways!!!!! Imagine having to go all the way around to the kids in the middle of the night-and looking straight at a wall full of doors...not very wow factor is it! Another thing-why isn't the entrance to the linen directly across from the laundry? Great space, but why do you have to walk through the hallway door to access the WIL? " Sorry-just being honest!
